    Our move to Texas

I’ve got a lot of Texan in me. I’m fourth generation, but I have no desire to decorate my airplanes like a cattle truck. In fact, I find that whole decoration mantra to be disgusting.

    Our move to Texas

Your answer is the Plano in your profile. You’re not a real Texan. You’re just a plain ol’ Texan. Just jokin’! Yes, scorpions are bad news! I am fortunate to not have seen one in years. There was one in the building where I worked adjacent to Addison Airport in the mid eighties. when I...

All those features are great, but that is not the most important consideration when buying a used vehicle of any kind. The top three most important criteria are: 1. condition 2. Condition 3. CONDITION If the aircraft is better equipped than any other of its type in the world, that is...

    Our move to Texas

I’m 75, so I have seen the full circle of hat styles. The one above labeled Taco was popular when I was an elementary school kid. It was practical for the time because we only had regular cab pickups in those days. With the brim folded up like that, you could fit three cowboys in the cab of a...

No, that’s not limited to Grand Prairie. I graduated from high school in Grand Prairie, but I know that lingo covers the state and maybe most of the South.

Either the rudder pedal extensions were in place and/or the seat was not moved rearward enough. A Mooney measures virtually the same width as a 172. In the short bodied versions, yes, with seats all the way rearward, there is no legroom. Mid and long bodies, no problem.

Yes, compared to the short bodies, the F, G and J have an additional five inches in the backseat and another five in the cargo hold. The front seats go back the same, and the front seats move back so ridiculously far that I wouldn’t be surprised if Michael Jordan fit in it lengthwise with seat...

D-Troop 3/5 Bastard Cav Reunion - Mid America Flight Museum

Thanks for all the great pictures Jack! I don’t know if it has been written yet, but the Huey in the pictures was one of D Troops helicopters. It was shot down at least three times. The same crew chief was in it all three (four?) times and a different pilot each time. The crew chief, David...

    Air-to-Air Cessna 421

It’s a good thing that air to air photography can’t be done after dark. Otherwise Jack would never be able to get any sleep. Jack never stops!

    Our move to Texas

Welcome to Texas Chris. Now it’s time to acclimate. Start with a Stetson and a .45 and you will be off to a great start. Once you get decked out with that, make it to the Mid America Flight Museum at KOSA in Mount Pleasant about 120 miles East of you. Open April through November 8AM until...

Right on! I think the Culver would be ideal for the task outlined, but I hate to see ANY plane of ANY type of construction tied down in the weather! If you are forced to tie down something in the weather, at least do it with a plane that is not a pristine example. BTW, I looked at the Culver...

    Helene relief flights

This is SO true. I began with Hurricane Michael doing volunteer disaster relief work. Our primary mission is to give people hope and comfort at a time when they really need it. If it weren’t for my wife going through some serious medical treatment at this time, I would already be on the East...

In spite of the smart Alec comments by some in this thread, ANY Mooney M20 will accommodate very tall people in the front seat. I am 6’1” and can get the seat back so far that I can’t dream of reaching the rudder pedals from there and they are as wide as most single engine Cessna/Pipers. The...
