If I remember, and if it’s still there next week, I’ll get you some more pictures. The Loch is in the process of being sold. Don’t expect my pictures to be the same quality as Jacks though.

D-Troop 3/5 Bastard Cav Reunion - Mid America Flight Museum

To Jacks list of mission items for the museum. Last Saturday night, Scott donated the use of the B25 hangar for a fund raiser for the local food bank, “Titus County Cares.” We pack around 1500 lunches per week that go to underprivileged school children in the area. Scott not only donated use...

D-Troop 3/5 Bastard Cav Reunion - Mid America Flight Museum

Jack, does your camera still work? I was in the back row, but maybe since my gorgeous wife was next to me, she saved your camera from damage due to my ugly face. Seriously though, the photography did wonderful justice to these guys.

FFS. I need a new hobby.

I was at a safety seminar at Air Salvage of Dallas many years ago. The proprietor is an incredibly experienced man who goes out and gathers up wrecked planes and is an authority on determining accident causes. The NTSB even consults him. I know this is true because my late wife’s twin sister...

    Ipad on Cessna 182

I tried various mounts in various planes, but the best solution for me has been a child’s soft rubber case and set it in my lap. The cover keeps it from sliding around. Works great and you don’t have to find a setup for every plane you fly. Try it! You’ll like it!

    Age 75+ Insurance

My tailwheel insurance has gone up only slightly in the last ten years or so. My Mooney on the other hand, tripled when I turned 73 two years ago. At that point I went to liability only and just don’t forget GUMPS.

    Internal engine pre-heater--opinions?

You mean an oil fryer. They have been known to overheat the oil causing damage to the all important additives. A small foot heater with clothes dryer vent hose blowing warm air under the engine in such an arrangement that prevents fuel from dripping on the heater makes a wonderful engine heater.

    outside storage

I went many years before I was able to get a hangar so that I could buy a plane. It’s your business to decide if you want to leave a plane in the weather to melt into the ground. I was never able to make myself do it. Patience is a virtue and it eventually paid off. I now have a beautiful...

FFS. I need a new hobby.

Welcome to one of the many hobbies that involve mechanical contrivances. This sort of thing is what comes along with flying, racing, motorcycling and other hobbies. If you’re not one to weild wrenches from time to time and develop a mental list of the things you’ve learned about your...

    Our move to Texas

I can’t remember the last time I saw a gun rack in a pickup. The world has definitely changed. When I was in high school, there were several guys who drove pickups with a shotgun, and a rifle of some description in the back window. Those trucks were parked all day long in the school parking...
