    Best Shoulder Harness Arrangement?

I would like to add shoulder harnesses to my Aircoupe. Is a three point (diagonal across the chest) or four point (on strap across each shoulder) better? There is an STC for a diagonal strap and several 337s including engineering data for the four point so field approval "should" be possible...

Fist time taking my son up...interesting experience

Interesting comments re. checking with various social media in addition to NOTAMS and the other usual informations sources. FAR 91-103 states "Each pilot in command shall, before beginning a flight, become familiar with all available information concerning that flight." However, reading AC...

You might get some insight for you plan at this Youtube, he's doing just that. https://www.youtube.com/@risingsun_ His choice (Ercoupe) might be a bit tight for you though.

Need NAV unit that drives a Flight Director

Alas, the experimental world has efis systems that provide flight directors without an actual autopilot installed. The GRT lines do and their MiniGa can be used in certificated aircraft, and it has the flight director function. It can't be used for IFR flight though.

Should I not own if I can’t find hangar space?

Having a malfunction of the door so you can't open and/or close it, i.e. a retract spring cable breaking on a port-a-port swing up door (those are heavier than they look). It will close real fast, but getting it open again is…challenging.

Arrow on the beach Carlsbad. Everyone out OK.

It hasn't been a good week for Cherokees flying out of MontgomeryGibbs but better for their pilots and passengers at least.

FAA launches investigation after two planes nearly collide at JFK airport

I would be interesting to hear the entire ground calls from the time AAL called for taxi. Perhaps they were initially cleared for 31L but the cross 31L at Kilo instruction is pretty clear.

    Another One at KMYF

It was a takeoff from 28L. Around 16:00 on the playback (if I did the link correct) https://archive.liveatc.net/kmyf/KSAN-KMYF-Twr-Pri-Jan-15-2023-1800Z.mp3 Sounds like something opened up during the takeoff roll.

Thanks for clarifying one of my question areas. Do you have a source document for the General Counsel's determination?

VFR minimums when flying the pattern

I'll bite just to clarify my own confusion on a couple of points on this situation. If the uncontrolled airport has an instrument approach would that make it Class E airspace requiring the requisite cloud clearance and visibility? Wouldn't a 1200' ceiling mean either broken or overcast cloud...

    Aircraft Registry Service Update

That is a step into the future but a bit challenging to those of us that are technological Luddites to get registered/set up. Thank goodness there was actually someone to answer the tech support phone to clarify how to set up the now required second factor authentication for FAA sites. (I had...
