Triple 4, double charlie - does it annoy you?

People who insist on "niner" are usually those who sat in the front row of their classroom when they were kids, or want to make sure everybody knows they're a pilot. Dana, who sat in the back row and whose new plane is "triple one edge".

    A Shameless Plug: Rhinebeck Jamboree- Sept 6, 7, 8

If you fly in in a modern plane they'll just park you in back where nobody can see it. :) I used to fly in back in the late 1980s in my T-Craft... but then it was a pre WW2 plane. But seriously, they're pretty easy nowadays, as long as you understand it's a short rough strip. A couple of...

    Lets make Friday 'Joke Day'!

Squirrels are actually pretty tasty. The standard joke is "tastes like chicken", but they don't... they taste more like a Cornish Hen.

    Fuel exhaustion event

Wow. Nobody, but nobody, services my plane but me. "Full service" for me is the line guy hands me the fuel nozzle while I'm standing on the ladder.

How much ethanol is too much

So: Most engines will run just fine on varying amounts of ethanol. At higher concentrations, jetting adjustments may be required. The energy content of ethanol is somewhat lower, so maximum power is slightly reduced and fuel consumption at the same power setting is higher. The big problem is...

    Burning Man

As much as I think Burning Man could be fun (for a couple of hours), the heat and dry dust isn't for me, give me cool and green. This was Cheat River, WV, which was quite the party... I didn't see any naked babes or drugs but plenty of underdressed hillbilly women (not all dentally...

Looking for a great airframe to mount Rotax 9 series

Are aerobatics OK in any of the 9-series engines? I don't mean inverted systems (though that'd be cool too), but gyroscopic loads on the prop shaft and gearbox?

    WSJ article about airplane camping

Even here in darkest Connecticut there are at least two airports with designated camping areas (supported by the RAF). Nope, not publicly funded. But most publicly funded airports I've been to I wouldn't want to camp there anyway.

    Removing Warrior Yokes

Can you replace the entire shaft so the taper pin doesn't have to be removed?

Looking for a great airframe to mount Rotax 9 series

Many of the smaller sport biplanes were designed for a small Continental, but would do well with a 9xx.

By proxy; the airport manager says to you, "you can't camp here, the FAA doesn't allow it."

    lahso student question

I knew a private pilot who identified as a student pilot for years to get the controllers to slow down.

    Test your Taste

Pineapple on pizza is one of those things that always sounded gross to me, I would never order it... but on the few occasions when somebody orders one and I end up eating a slice because it's all that's left, it tastes pretty good. But I still wouldn't choose it. Now one of my favorites...

    Burning Man

I remember reading a few years ago about a couple who flew into Burning Man in their AN-2, which was set up as a flying camper. Now THAT'S the way to fly into BM, a very Mad Max vibe.

Why has Vashon sold so few Rangers, and will MOSAIC turn that around?

I just saw a Vashon for the first time today at my local airport as it taxied past my hangar. Wild paint job.
