    What if... Modernizing GA

I don't have one. And no "engine driven electrical system", so I don't need one. :) Dana, not emitting

    What if... Modernizing GA

Icon tried that, and buyers revolted. Does it really matter whether it's the government, or google, or the insurance company, or Cessna? I'll take my freedom and privacy over anybody else's vision of my security or safety.

    Maule Insurance

Teri at Northwest got me insurance for my Parrakeet when nobody else other than Avemco would touch it. Avemco quoted a higher price, of course.

Woman Backs Into Propeller, Kansas, fatal, 10/27

In the original incident being discussed, I got the impression that she was taking candid photos of the activity, not posed shots, for a news story. She also seemed to be participant in the activity so should have known better, though whether she was an experienced jumper or a first timer isn't...

Insight Wanted: Survey on Catastrophic Oil Leak Detection

Don't some engine monitors already do that? Of course, by the time you get the alarm it's too late... Still, the Flightchops guy did a video a while back where he drained all the oil out of an engine and ran it at cruise power until it seized. It lasted a surprisingly long time.

Insight Wanted: Survey on Catastrophic Oil Leak Detection

As others have mentioned, oil pressure gauges are required, but they won't warn of an oil leak until you're pretty much out. Oil level gauges exist (though I've never seen one on an airplane), and they probably don't give much useful information when most of the oil is circulating around the...

    Tankless water heaters

Nowadays the technology is refined to the point that the engineers can calculate exactly how thick to make the coating so they last for the duration of the warranty and no longer. :(

LP is an option if NG service isn't feasible.

    Rules for using MOGAS?

I understand the static issue and dangers, but how have I survived 50+ years of pouring gas from a plastic can into a tractor's plastic tank with no grounding and no explosions? When I had my Kolb I attached a long [enough] hose to the can with a brass ball valve on the discharge end. Set the...

    Tankless water heaters

I put a Bosch unit in our cabin about 15 years ago and it's still going strong... no electricity needed and no pilot, it has a little turbo generator that generates electricity for the controls and ignition from the water flow. Then installed a larger Rheem unit in the house a couple of years...

    What if... Modernizing GA

I'm pretty sure Van's alone is outselling all of the legacy GA manufacturers nowadays.

Bifold door motor BUZZ and won't open without several tries

If the motor has a centrifugal start switch, that could be sticking. Pop the back cover off the motor and look.

Technology has improved a bit, but physics and aerodynamics haven't changed.

    Auto conversion ideas

Who makes that alternator? I'm interested in an even smaller one, maybe 3-5A, to build up as a wind generator.

IH Scout fans: What do you think of the new one?

Just like the new Bronco, Land Cruiser, and Land Rover, it's gone upscale... and expensive. Not that they're not nice trucks, but give me the simplicity of the originals. Jeep seems to be better at staying true to the originals than the other makers, which is why I bought a base model Gladiator.

"You should return a deceased airman's certificate to the FAA"??

That's because you didn't send them the original certificate.
