This happened to my neighbor this morning....

Right, the thieves don't care. My fiance's studio was broken into last month. They just kept throwing a big rock at different windows until one shattered (they broke three big plate glass windows). They then stole the cash register drawer by completely ripping out the terminal and destroying it...

    Home automation and voice control

I saw that (you have to pay extra), but it integrates with Wink and I set up my bots in Wink, which doesn’t charge.

    Home automation and voice control

The Chamberlain MyQ has the audible alert for closing and also has a sensor on the door. The app looks identical to Eppy GA's, so I assume it is the same. I have had to replace the sensor batter once in three years, so it lasts a while.

    Home automation and voice control

With the Chamberlain MyQ, you program it to your opener, so it works with just about any opener over Wifi. With the Wink hub, you can then set up a bot to send you a notification, if the garage door has been open more than 15 minutes (this has been very useful for me). For security, Alexa will...

    Home automation and voice control

I have been doing the Alex / Smarthome thing for quite a while. I like the GE switches (I have tried some others). I have the Kwikset front door lock (works great). The Chamberlain MyQ will work with most garage door openers (I have had one for about 3 years now with no issues). I have a...

    1965 Cherokee 140, IFR

I looked into that. It is expensive. On a Cherokee, the panel is considered structural and a couple of those holes are smaller than standard. Also, not all of the holes are very deep (they won't take a full instrument).

    1965 Cherokee 140, IFR

Pitot heat, if you plan on actually going in the soup. DME or GPS (296 doesn't count, even in the panel). I looked into getting my Cherokee IFR, but in the end, it wasn't worth it to me.

    Folding Bikes?

You are probably going to miss the gears on that one, unless every where you go is flat (single speed). I bought a couple of cheap 5 speed folding bikes off of Amazon ($199 each). They fit in the back of a Cherokee, but even with some upgrades (high pressure tires and longer crank arms), they...

    New Garmin D2 Delta watch

The battery life is one of the things they have improved. It does 32 hours with 1 second GPS polling, now and without GPS it will go a long time (in watch mode). Where it really shines is as an exercise watch, especially multi-sport, such as a triathlon. If you are just getting it for wearing in...

    New Garmin D2 Delta watch

It seems like it gets a major refresh every couple of years, though my brother is still using his Fenix 3 with no issues, which is probably 4 years old. It isn't going to last forever, but I would expect 5 to 7 years to be a reasonable expectation.

    New Garmin D2 Delta watch

Nice door prize. In my line of work (I.T) I am lucky to get a bottle opener. Well, I did get a Bluetooth headset a few months ago (Plantronics Voyager 5200). That's still not a 5x Sapphire.

    New Garmin D2 Delta watch

I just looked at the 5 plus. The 5X Plus now has the Pulse Ox sensor. The maps are nice and the music, but I am not sure that justifies the price increase for me.

    New Garmin D2 Delta watch

I don't have particularly large wrists. It is pretty big on me and I fear the weight, flopping around, would bother me.

    New Garmin D2 Delta watch

DC Rainmaker personally uses an FR 935, though, which speaks volumes. It is half the weight, which matters when you are running and seems to have everything the Fenix 5 Sapphire has. I don't really compete anymore though, so it is somewhat overkill and my FR 220 still works fine, so it is hard...

    New Garmin D2 Delta watch

Looks like they added a pulse ox sensor. That is new. Radar overlay is new, but that is an app. This one is based on the Fenix 5, I believe, but the Fenix 5 doesn't have the pulse ox sensor. I think I am just going to end up with a ForeRunner 935 (pretty much a Fenix 5 with a plastic case).

    How to navigate thunderstorms?

FYI Collin, ScottD is the expert (pro meteorologist and well respected in the aviation community). Take his advise to the bank.

    How to navigate thunderstorms?

ATC can solicit PIREPs as well, as I witnessed them doing (see above) for a guy who was stuck on top. They were actively asking pilots if there was clearing for him to get down in different areas within his range.

    How to navigate thunderstorms?

I remember being up, when I heard ATC working with a guy, low on fuel, who was stuck on top. They were using PIREPs, trying to find him a hole. He was VFR only. I believe they did get him down.
