    SI Issuance

We focus on FAA medical certification so we cannot provide advice with regard to switching to Basic Med, particularly if there are ongoing SI requirements the FAA expects to see.

Will a past Bulging Disc cause any problem during my First Class Medical Renewal?

Honestly you can't go wrong being prepared like that. We generally over prepare our clients for a poor AME. But there is a fine line as you don't want to bring things that are completely unnecessary.

Will a past Bulging Disc cause any problem during my First Class Medical Renewal?

@midlifeflyer is correct. You would only need that stuff if there was a significant impairment still present and you were trying to advocate to the FAA that you, while having some deficit, said deficit wouldn't impact your ability to fly. The FAA is more concerned with the risk of sudden or...

    Medical flight test question

Your medical flight test should be assigned and coordinated through your closes FSDO.

Will a past Bulging Disc cause any problem during my First Class Medical Renewal?

A good AME should do a quick function check to make sure there is no issue. I'm talking overall function and strength, not necessarily something overly complicated. You should not have to bring documentation unless it was very recent and you still have some functional issues. Whether your AME...

Will a past Bulging Disc cause any problem during my First Class Medical Renewal?

Yes you need to put it in that question. As for impact to your medical, that will be based more on symptoms than presence. There are a lot of people with bulging discs. When it starts causing a problem is when it is time to take a break from flying to get it fixed.

    Possible crohns

It is way more important to get Crohn's under control early than it is to worry about the impact to your medical. If you have it under good control with normal medications then you will get your medical. You get a hole in your intestines, you are in a world of hurt and you won't be flying for a...

    8500-8 Advice

You are legally obligate to report all of them. You can consult with a specific AME or consulting service about how these issues may impact your medical and how you should approach your exam.

    Upgrading Medical with a SODA

Not quite. Your AME should defer you since your SODA is only for a third class. However, in the deferral your AME should write a statement in block 60 that you are looking to get a new SODA for second class. The FAA will deny you and, ideally, offer you a MFT to set up through the FSDO. Once you...

    Lexapro and Basic Med

Many physicians are quick to want to prescribe medications. In their defense, many patients are quick to demand them. If your physician wants to give you any psychotropic medication for a non mental health condition then there are typically one of two things happening: 1 - they think you have a...

Hold SI - change in regimen

I don't know how old your AASI paperwork is, but with the current AASI paperwork and protocol you would be able to be issued your certificate. This is based solely on the information you have provided.

Additional Info Needed - VA Healthcare?

Yes, we have a lot of experience with this. But it all depends on the individual physician more than being part of the VA. The main VA issue is going to be getting to see the right qualified people.

    Wellbutrin XR and SR

it wasn’t specifically addressed at the conference, but generally approved medications can be used off label so long as the condition is safe. But you can expect to go through the same requirements as someone using them on label. Because honestly, many doctors use antidepressants “off label”...

    Wellbutrin XR and SR

They changed it to antidepressant/SSRI. Yes, they are considering more medications, but they are not yet approved. Possibly by the end of the year. But nothing official other then they are moving in that direction and officially reviewing other medications.

Will past Growth Hormone Treatment cause any problem when applying for a First Class Medical?

You do not need to report the medication since it is not current. However, you technically need to report the condition for which the medication was used. Be that congenital short stature, or whatever. It is unlikely to cause any problems though.

    Mono vision and ocular hypertension

Most likely this will be 2-3 months in review. The actual review doesn't take that long, but they have a massive backlog. The best thing you can do is be as prepared as possible before the exam so that you can have all of your documentation ready. That way when they finally get to the review...

Tandem jump medical vs pilot medical

The interesting thing here is that the requirement for a third class medical is not coming from the FAA. I have also had clients where they are equipment testers in the back of aircraft for manufactures like Raytheon. Sometimes they require a second class for those guys.

Do you need to report a provisional diagnosis for a 1st class medical?

That's the problem. It isn't a formal medical thing. Hence my discussion of potential "rule out" conditions prior to reaching a formal diagnosis.
