High CO in Cessna 150M Cabin

Just what was in the PB Agreement? Unfortunately; these things seem to work backwards. “ How much for a Pre Buy Survey?” is how they begin. The price then will generally dictate the Depth of the task. Often folks only want a Comp Check and pull the Screen followed by Airframe Visual with...

High CO in Cessna 150M Cabin

Why not try a trip around the pattern with cabin heat disconnected? I’m presuming readings are fine on ground during taxi. The boots around the steering rods just aft of the Firewall can cause this. Assure ALL openings in the Firewall are sealed.

Tool box recommendations for future A&P mechanic

Agree with Gary. Some items get used (and lost or broken ). Sockets for GA in frequency of use: 7/8 deep, 11/32, 3/8/ 7/16 then all the rest. Un-scientific survey

Tool box recommendations for future A&P mechanic

IMHO SK made the best 1/4 “ drive ratchet. Very little friction and minimal movement between clicks. My MIL heavy- duty Snap-on was just the opposite. Very coarse movement. Would not ratchet with self-locking nuts. Hated it! Not all Snap- on are created equal.

    Plane Power alternator service/replacement

An issue with Belt replacement on Lycomings is the prop must come off to do so. This can make the task far more complex; particularly with some Constant Speed. It is a task that requires an A & P to sign off. We used 172’s for banner towing and would switch to seaplane props for the tows...

    $50. Oil filter

Post 111? One advantage of a Bypass Filter is it will remove a substantial amount of water.. A Full Flow will remove very little. This would be particularly significant If there are short flights or low oil temp. There was talk of a combination Full/Bypass Flow unit as a spin- on. AFAIK...

How to tell if a magneto is coupled or not?

At least 1 of the referenced SB was pertinent to the Impulse Coupling too!

How to tell if a magneto is coupled or not?

If you buy new I suggest that you obtain the Serial Numbers BEFORE they are shipped. I have found several Slicks that had 3 outstanding Service Bulletins at the time of installation. With s/n you can go to Slick or Aircraft Magneto Service website to check applicability BEFORE shipping.

    Aileron alignment question

We have some similarities here. Never overseas though. Still active in some way? My actual A&P activities generally have not been my primary source of income so my priorities are different than most Techs. In order they would be friends, interesting project and profit last. Most business...

    $50. Oil filter

In perusing “ Oil Filter Testing” it seemed the focus was on Capacity. The statement regarding all media the same puzzled me. What about contamination type/ size and moisture removal ?

    Aileron alignment question

Truth IS stranger than fiction, Maybe we should have a section devoted to this? “ As the windsock turns ! “ for a working title? Domenic? Pardon me if I’m wrong but I get the impression that Bell spent a lot of time at one facility? When I mentioned that I had worn “ many hats”...

How to tell if a magneto is coupled or not?

I’ve never met anyone not happy with Aircraft Magneto Services . Assuming they dealt with them!

    Aileron alignment question

I would be interested in a ref for the guidance . This situation was completely unexpected and no way to prepare for it. Once I explained what had happened all was well for me. This may make more sense if you consider even a cursory glance would reveal my reluctance to commit to performing...

    $50. Oil filter

The reference is likely to a “ Frantz” oil filter. As a former dealer I can assure you they tend to be misunderstood. Some points: 1. They do NOT take the place of the existing “ Full Flow” or screens. The unit is a “ Bypass “ filter that is plumbed in parallel with the existing Full...

    Aileron alignment question

Possibly prove to FAA or a judge. I’ve been an IA for a long time so I’ve encountered some odd situations. When possible I’ve tried to do pre- inspection “ look-overs” to get an idea of what I’m dealing with but no de-paneling. One guy had an aircraft with multiple issues. I advised him...

    Aileron alignment question

Not necessarily a required Inspection. Might be as something as Dan mentioned such as a cracked exhaust pipe found during an oil change. Or worn out brakes during a tire change. Fuel leak etc, etc. If my hands have been on the aircraft and the owner will not do corrective action I still...

    Aileron alignment question

If logs are not available you still have to produce an entry . I have used a sheet with N number and. “ Aircraft Log” written on it to give to the Owner along with some form of witness. They can say they never received it.

    Aileron alignment question

My point is you must make an entry and must give it to the owner. The witness or pic is to be able to prove this happened. One student pilot had metal in the screen and fuel leaks. He continued to fly passengers after being notified and said we can’t tell him not too. Later got someone to...
