    (Fly-in?) KSAA Shively Field Wyoming

How's the fishing in the area? I'm interested, especially if I can parlay it into a longer expedition.

    Why haven't you been to a POA fly-in ?

Also... If you were at the left end of that line, why would you ever want to leave to come to the right side of the line!? Signed, mountain westerner wannabe

    Why haven't you been to a POA fly-in ?

Wiring up a new ADSB-Out box in the RV year or so ago, it is actually pinned-out so you can include a switch to turn off ADSB-out identification. No more breaker pulling, just flip the switch!

KRBD - Dallas Executive Airport thread... Started May 2024

I was sitting in a meeting in Plano last week and looked out the window and saw what appeared to be a medium bomber and a chase/fighter close behind going from SW to NE. That wasn't you in a photo chase plane by chance was it?

    6Y9 2024 Fly in/camp out

That's the magic of the UP (at least the very little bit that I have experienced). One year it was so hot that you could barely stand to be inside a tent and the very next year we woke up to frost on the wings. The good thing about the cold nights is that you can 'drink your jacket'.

Starlink - Does it work in airplanes?

No. It's not an open data connection, it's just messaging and weather information handled through Garmin's (I'm sure they're spinning it off to a 3rd party satellite provider) infrastructure. You can't use your typical text messaging app - you send/receive messages through the Garmin app. It...

[NA] Thinking about replacing windows in house

Sure, we've got room for another 'Thinking about..' thread, right!? Somewhat a spin-off of my previous Thinking about moving and renting out current house thread, we have decided to stay put where we are for the time being. With that in mind, we're willing to continue to invest in our current...

Starlink - Does it work in airplanes?

Check out the Garmin InReach. I have the InReach mini (got it for hunting safety) and have used it in the plane. You can send/receive text messages, emails, or device-to-device messages and get basic weather updates either onto the device itself (very limited UI) or pair it with your phone to a...

    Why haven't you been to a POA fly-in ?

^^ true. When we realized that we would be able to make it (wx dependent) back to 6Y9 this year after a 15 year hiatus, my wife immediately started asking "Soo, does ____ still go up there? Is ____ still on PoA? Will ____ be there?" It definitely rekindled a spark for meeting up with folks of...

    6Y9 2024 Fly in/camp out

Never. Ed's tombstone message will be written in PHP.

    Why haven't you been to a POA fly-in ?

It's not that newbies didn't feel 'included'. Maybe just a day for the 'newbies' group to merge into the 'regulars' group. It's just like anything else - if you show up to an event where some people have 'been there, done that' several times and you're new to everything, you have to get a lay of...

    Why haven't you been to a POA fly-in ?

I wasn't going to bring it up.. Don't want to scare folks too soon. They need to experience the "WTF!?" moment themselves!

    Why haven't you been to a POA fly-in ?

I can appreciate that viewpoint 100%. I've been on PoA since 2005 (and the AOPA Red Board and Yellow Board before that). I think the first PoA fly-in we attended was Gaston's in 2006ish. We were a last minute arrival and only knew a couple of people there. There was definitely a 'core' group...

Thinking about moving and renting out current house

This would be in Georgia. Not sure what the laws are here - but obviously I need to figure it out.

Thinking about moving and renting out current house

Agree wholeheartedly. Before we bought our place, we were always the 'hands-on' tenants that treated the place like our own. We got burned once when we moved out and didn't get our deposit back, and when I called to ask about why, the landlord told me "Well, you had a piece of tape stuck to the...

Thinking about moving and renting out current house

This is a great perspective and honestly where my mind was at when the idea first came up, but the idea of a shiny new house with more space in a slightly nicer neighborhood lured me in. ha. You hit the nail on the head - even what we're looking at would be viewed as a short-term play in that...

Thinking about moving and renting out current house

Thanks for the responses, folks. Definitely a lot to think about. We like where we are currently, other than the MS situation which, in reality, isn't 'bad', it just isn't as stellar as we hear from other schools in the district. We have a new principal starting after this school year, so I'm...

Thinking about moving and renting out current house

A1: Possibly. We have talked about how (hindsight 20/20) we wish we had bought two houses like ours at the time to have one as a rental. That's kind of what I'm trying to figure out. What else am I missing for negatives of being a landlord? A2: No idea. Haven't gotten down the path far enough...

Thinking about moving and renting out current house

We're almost to the stage of life where we have outgrown our current house (boys are getting to the age where sharing a room isn't cool - even with a custom bunk-bed setup). Also, it turns out the middle school we're zoned for isn't a slam dunk like the elementary school was. We have one with...

    [NA] Printing wall poster?

Good to know. I've used them for CAD type stuff and flowcharts, etc., but haven't used them for photo quality stuff. I'll give them a shot. Thanks!
