PA28/32 Wing Spar AD - Show me the data!

That's easier to grasp in sense that, "Yup, those curves look alike." But I still don't have a good feel for what the curves are actually plotting. (I have no idea what "Density = 0.00008" means.)

PA28/32 Wing Spar AD - Show me the data!

Again, not knowing statistics, I could be way off base, but perhaps part of the problem is that the "signal" is so weak. True results outstrip False results by an order of magnitude, making individual False results strongly influential compared to individual True results. But the "problem" is...

PA28/32 Wing Spar AD - Show me the data!

I am an aerospace engineer by education, and I work in a technical environment. I deal with math and graphs all the time. However, I've never studied statistics so besides a general understanding of means, medians, standard deviations, and margins of error, I know little about statistical...

    Anti-collision lights?

I would suggest that your strategy is flawed. If you *do* happen to miss observing someone else, you are denying them the benefit of awareness of your intent. That does neither of you any good. I would also suggest that if you need a "trick" like that to stay engaged behind the wheel, it...

    Anti-collision lights?

I agree. And yet I still turn them on every time I fly. Just like I always use my turn signal even when there's nobody around. Makes sure that they're on when they *would^ be useful.

Extending WiFi long distance to a monitoring device?

A directional antenna on one end will help ensure your signal back to the source wifi will be strong, but it can only do so much for the signal coming out to you. An analogy is that you and another person are far apart. You shout toward the other guy with a megaphone (like cheerleaders use)...

    Controlled Airspace Apprehensions, VFR

My guess is danhagan was talking about this, but I'm scratching my head about why that would have anything to do with his Class C. Unless he's trying to say his airport had a lot of Southwest flights all the time. In which case it would have been clearer to just say, "Our Class C had a lot of...

Do I need to be an A&P to install intercom jacks?

I hope you have better luck with splitters than I did. When I got my plane, it had a Sigtronics 4-place intercom, but only two places were wired. I bought a 3-way Y-splitter (aka a "W-splitter") and plugged it into the co-pilot position. Because of physics, the more headsets used, the less...

Is it mandatory to perform a new weight and balance after a paint job?

Is that truly the weight of just the solids, or are you including all the volatiles that are going to evaporate?

Comm Radio Transmits in Air, Not on Ground

Will antenna problems cause issues with sidetone? I wouldn't expect that. I'm guessing it's a problem with the radio itself or the wiring inside the cockpit. There's a clue in how the performance degraded over a short period rather than failing instantaneously. Not familiar with the SL-40...

    Nothing in the headsets

Those questions are clearly answered in the OP. Identical results with two different headsets. Audio or degraded audio on 2 out of 4 of the panel selections where audio is expected, but no audio at all on the other two.

Sleep study done and after using CPAP I feel amazing

I think about the difference a CPAP could have made for my dad all the time. He died at 75, and (in hindsight) I'm certain apnea took a few years off, and made many of the years he had kinda miserable.

May Ethan Zuckerman expire and decay in Hades.

Pick your poison. In my experience there are far fewer sites that absolutely refuse to allow ad blockers than otherwise. YMMV...you've apparently had a different experience.

These folks need to be stopped.

Newsmax must be running out of things to get outraged about if they're digging back to stuff published in 2021 for material. Somehow the world hasn't fallen apart in the three years this document has been floating around.

    Mid ‘70s homebuilt?

When I was a kid in the late 70s/early 80s I remember seeing a guy in the neighborhood working on a plane in his garage. I wish I could go back in time as an adult and talk to him about it. As a little kid there's no way I'd have approached a stranger like that.

    Controlled Airspace Apprehensions, VFR

What's to f### up? Just do what they tell you to do. They're not going to ask you to solve differential equations in your head. They're going to ask you to fly a heading, or enter a left downwind for a runway, or start the approach from a fix. These are straightforward things that you know...

Sleep study done and after using CPAP I feel amazing

The day I did my sleep study, they told me, "We'll do the sleep monitoring tonight, and you'll come back for us to titrate your CPAP settings." They woke me up about 2 hrs in and said, "Yeah, okay, you've got serious apnea and we don't need to watch you suffer anymore. Let's start your...
