    172 emergency landing Compton CA

Sounds like some residents want that airport to move straight outta Compton!

iPad mini 6 - any case or bumpers that will fit in the Ram EZroller?

Interesting concept. It would look stupid, but do they make a belt clip for it like they do for the iPhone defenders?

How to boost your currency/proficiency practice?

commercial hopefully in the next couple months and trying to knock out CFI and CFI-I after that. Target is tailwheel in the spring.

How to boost your currency/proficiency practice?

I’ll jump in with another one. Practice simulated engine failures to the ground and simulated engine failure on takeoff (providing your runway is long enough)

How to boost your currency/proficiency practice?

I don't just want to be a current pilot, I want to be ready for when "that day" comes in my aviation career that puts everything I know to the test. So with that in mind, what are some additional things that you and I can practice on a semi-routine basis to help boost the odds of a good outcome...

    Semantic Question regarding § 61.113

I got this today too! Big brother is watching PoA!

    Semantic Question regarding § 61.113

Ok, so since you brought that up, I’m not entirely sure I understand holding out. Let’s say that my buddy and I do something cool. Let’s say we visit Niagara Falls. We split the costs. It’s all good. If I start pitching that to people, I’m holding out. What if he (not at my prompting) starts...

    Semantic Question regarding § 61.113

“He offered to take my golfing, so I offered to take him flying!” Cool exchange. Having said all of this and had the discussion, just in case Mr. Fiz Do is on here, said friend is not a golfer and has no desire for this arrangement, so it’s all irrelevant anyway.

    Semantic Question regarding § 61.113

You guys caught me. I did indeed mean 61.113, not 91.146. Edited to correct.

    Semantic Question regarding § 61.113

So I was thinking about this today because my friend asked about flying to 7N8. If we fly there and he pays for me to golf, that is not a reimbursement of flight expenses directly. I know that the FAA takes a relatively broad view of what it considers “compensation.” If the amount of the round...

    Portable Headrest

As far as renting another for XC, I'm saving $100+/hour over the cheapest rental in the area, and I'm coming up on my commercial minimums, so just trying to knock out these last few hours with cross country flights to punch lots of hours at a time. My big goal is to build one and I'm looking at...

    Daily Pic

Flying out of KIPT afforded me the opportunity to take some photos of the Little League World Series (note, this is in the morning before any of the games started.) Crossing the border into Kentucky, the fields along the river were just gorgeous. Then I took my wife up to see Niagara Falls...

    Portable Headrest

My initial thought was to strap a board with an amazon headrest to the back of the seat by way of the seatback pocket and a board. May give it a go for an initial idea. As far as the data, it's a 1974 172M. My options are somewhat limited as it is a club plane.

    Portable Headrest

I've searched and can't find anything, so here's my question. My wife loves flying with me, but has chronic neck issues, and by the end of a longer flight, she's prone to end up with neck pain and/or a migraine. I hate doing that to her. My 172 doesn't have headrests, which I think would allow...

DPEs: how firm is the >50NM rule? Would distances of 49.5NM be rounded up?

14 CFR 61.109(a)(5)(ii) states "MORE THAN 50NM." 49.99 or even 50.00 does not qualify as "more than." So how flexible are DPEs? As flexible as the regulations allow.

    Premature Solo?

I’m not sure how Transport Canada handles these things.

    Premature Solo?

I was just in Quebec and saw that in a local (Francophone) newspaper. Brought it back to hang in my office.
