    Student Pilot down KLHV

That’s sad to hear, but good to know. I just did my spin training for CFI and the first one was the absolute worst feeling I’ve ever had in a plane. Once I knew what was coming, it wasn’t so bad, but I sure wouldn’t want to have one in the takeoff/climb phase.

    Student Pilot down KLHV

You would think that, but there is a ridge there and many, if not most of us go to the other side of the ridge for the downwind leg, so it seems an odd place for us locals. I’ve run through everything I can possibly think of for that particular spot based on the ADSB data and I can’t figure it...

    $100 Poutine

Especially if you don’t already know the words, it gives a whole new meaning to “learning on the fly.“

    Student Pilot down KLHV

No, weather wasn’t a factor. I made the comment that it was a beautiful day to fly, but I had other responsibilities.

    Student Pilot down KLHV

Flight and accident details are very sparse at the moment, but a 17-year-old girl was flying a student pilot solo from KIPT to KLHV this morning and crashed just north of the threshold of RWY 27 killing her. She was a Civil Air Patrol cadet with good leadership skills and a vivacious...

    $100 Poutine

CSC3 in Drummondville is a pretty good little airport. Drummondville is one of the fastest growing cities in QC and has some GREAT options mais il n'y pas beaucoup gens qui parlent anglais et ce n'est pas un aeroport avec contrôle du trafic arien, donc c'est difficile a parler avec les autre...

    Crossword Puzzles

Well, to be fair, the words “continent” and “continental” are not interchangeable. While the Hawaiian islands are part of the North American continent, they are not part of the continental United States. Further complicating matters, the island group of Oceania INCLUDES the continent of...

These folks need to be stopped.

Agreed. Unlike Representative Cleaver who ended a prayer on the Congressional floor with "Amen and Awomen"

These folks need to be stopped.

The problem is that there is a large and growing population of industry "professionals" who refuse to use professionalism. There is obvious lack of respect toward women from pilots in old movies (inappropriate comments to stewardesses, as they were then called). I'm not saying that cockpit is a...

    Near miss Lebanon Tennessee KM54

My mistake for not looking more closely to see how old the thread was. The copyright infringement claim on the video in post 14 appears to be the same as the aircraft owner’s name (not Baron). I assumed Baron was a Beechcraft reference (close to Bonanza). Sorry this nonsense is in your...

    Near miss Lebanon Tennessee KM54

Hmm, one post, user name Baron, searching the thread for YouTube channels showing this incident, and then magically, there’s a copyright infringement claim from a person WITH THE SAME LAST NAME AS THE AIRCRAFT’S OWNER?!?!?

    34, feeling lost, lonely

Dude, I’m with you. My dad died when I was 9, so he wasn’t there through those critical years where I would normally learn “manly skills.” I’m not saying I completely understand your life, but I can definitely identify with certain elements!

    34, feeling lost, lonely

@Sam7 Being in the equine world ourselves, I can appreciate what you are saying. Yeah, there are tons of women in the field, but, as you said, many are teenage girls who like horseys and many (not all) of the rest are middle-aged women who invested so much into loving horseys as teenagers that...

Flight Plan Filed -- Told to Expect Different Route

So for your situation, what I would file (personal preference 100%) would be KCMA - VNY - POM - HAPPÉ - BALDI - JISOP - KPSP I chose BALDI and JISOP because they are fixes on the RNAV for 31L (runway with the best winds currently). I always try to file at least an initial fix in case I end up...

    Honest reporting on electric airplanes

If the past risk is zero (ie. you've never had an engine failure), then the future risk is higher than zero regardless of how small that risk is. I wasn't insinuating that every pilot, plane, or engine, has a time when it's "number is up." You're exactly right: planes are dumb. They don't know...
