    As another note, even though the regs don’t appear to be written this way, a couple of DPEs in my area require EACH leg to be 50NM+.

    Agreed. The guy who sold me my share of our plane sold out because he bought a 177RG, so for his sake, I’d want to know about any recurring issues too. I’m glad you talked to the FAA to help your fellow owners/pilots.

    Really hard to find ANY fault here when there is extremely clear video evidence that the gear WAS extended, we got to see the gear collapse, the landing was made probably close to the stall horn (or maybe with the horn blaring), kept it straight until the very end, and the mixture was pulled...

    VFR flight plans. Do you file them?

    I don’t file VFR flight plans. If I’m putzing around the airport (class D) it’s irrelevant, and if I’m going somewhere, I file IFR. The only thing I do besides those two is to go out the the practice area for stalls/steep turns/other maneuvers.

    Just a few weeks ago, a bald eagle flew right in front of me while in the downwind while doing some pattern work. Idk if it was the right move, but I advised tower in case there was anyone else in the pattern shortly behind me.

    I would have quit playing. I'm not in college anymore. I get out there and I'm sucking wind after my second shift with NO mask on. I can't imagine back checking hard with something inhibiting my breathing!
