    Self serve fuel pump etiquette

I think it is more often people who are oblivious, rather than jerks. We've put incredible safety features on almost everything you can name, so oblivious people aren't even motivated to pay attention to their surroundings these days...

Hot starts and engine shut downs

Depends on how the FWF package is configured. You can do what you want on an experimental. My RV-10 and Todd's RV-10 both have fuel bypass valves which allow you to circulate hot fuel out of the engine compartment before start. I never use mine. I use a conventional hot start procedure, which...

NA - Hey Aviation Forum, How do I find a leak in a pool pipe?

I use < 10 psi to blow the pool lines. Dunno what the burst pressure of old pvc is, but don’t wanna find out either.

NA - Hey Aviation Forum, How do I find a leak in a pool pipe?

He's in Dallas. It can get cold there. And when it does, the chances of something like an ice or snowstorm that kills power for a while are higher. Lose power for a day in sub 30 temps and any exposed pool plumbing is gonna freeze. Which is why I blow out the lines and close our pool here in...

    EAA getting sued

If I was the opposing lawyer I would ask "What did you do to people who performed the prohibited maneuver?" Unless you put them in a penalty box (i.e. prohibited them from using the fly-by pattern) for some time - a day, a week, dunno what's appropriate, well...

    EAA getting sued

I think their rules were documented. But they didn't enforce them when they saw one or more violations of those rules by the gyro pilot who (allegedly) caused the accident.

    EAA getting sued

I don't know the particulars. But if EAA had written safety policies and didn't enforce them, that puts them in a tough position from a liability standpoint. That said, this is why they have insurance and I dont' see it impacting Airventure in a meaningful way going forward. Do you remember...

$100K? This Giveaway Shows How Out-of-Touch They Are With GA

Yep. A surprising number of people, lots of them fairly intelligent, actively go looking for reasons to lose their minds about a perceived, if not intended, slight.

    College football 2024

Tech pushed FSU around the field most of the day and won at the end. The field goal accounted for the winning points, but Tech was the better team.

Tom Reilly's XP-82 back on the market

I visited that project in Douglas, GA a couple of times when it was underway. Tom and his girlfriend (now wife) were very friendly and accommodating on both visits. I even gave her a ride in the RV-6 one of the times I was down there. I always wondered if there would be a market for the airplane...

    Flightaware security breach

I've often thought computers and the "ease" of versioning just meant you spent the same amount of time on a project, but the number of options created/reviewed went up by a factor of 10. When, in fact, you knew the optimum solution was probably in one of the first 3 options you generated...

[NA but interesting] Big cylindrical slide rule - anybody ever used one?

I never got around to solving that equation.
