First, they selected the top applicants for flight school. Second, they ran them through three levels of training before flying combat types. Third, they washed out the candidates who didn’t successfully complete each step of training. And fourth, they accepted high casualty rates in training.

I have several items on my aviation bucket list and checked off two of 'em last week. Early Saturday morning my son Alex and I flew commercial from Atlanta to Newark NJ and picked up a rental car which got us the 100 or so miles North to Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome. We were there by 12:30 or so...

No major concerns in the Atlanta area or NW Georgia. We had several inches of rain and <30 mph winds, so not that much worse than a big line of thunderstorms. The storm went East of Atlanta, so that's where any bigger damage happened.

I tend to agree, which is why I cancelled my membership earlier this year. BUT, it is hard (maybe impossible) to know what demons they have managed to shove back in Pandora's box over the years.

Do you know any composite aircraft builders or RV builders? Any of them should be able to make that repair.

IMO, this is a cosmetic issue and falls into the owner maintenance category. Find a homebuilder who is comfortable with composites and it'll be a small job for them and they will probably already have the necessary materials other than the paint. The process I'd use would be to mask the area...

I think in many cases a poorly designed nose wheel axle and/or bearing caused the wheel to seize, resulting in a cascading failure that took out the nose strut. Owners with upgraded nosewheels don't seem to have nose gear failures unless they do something abusive like taxiing through a ditch...
