    Absolutely crazy Bo fuel tanks

That seems ridiculous today, but was there a sane reason why it was designed that way and also why FAA approved it back in the day? One would think, but then again…

FFS. I need a new hobby.

Yeah, current oil might have shown different results, but obviously not useful for prediction. If you had used AeroShell, this would have never happened :p

    Engine dehydrator/dehumidifier 12V system

I saw this at Meijer today.

I wonder if a key way would have been better. Machine a groove in both the back of the shaft and the case, install the key. Similar to how a harmonic balance is installed on a crank. Overkill? Maybe. Difficult to machine the case vs drill and tap for the set screw in a hangar. But will...

    Ipad on Cessna 182

I’m interested in the yoke balance issue, if you could explain, please?

    Weld it and send it.

It’s a special mag driven off of a single shaft, rather than 2 completely separate mags.

Wow! Do you need a rebuild? Buy new? Repair it yourself?

    Engine dehydrator/dehumidifier 12V system

Look for a live-well aerator pump for fishing. Some come built-in for the boat (12v) and get hardwired, others are portable for a 5 gallon bucket and use batteries. Find a local bait shop or try Academy or Cabelas/Bass Pro, maybe Amazon.

My first 6 hours continuous flight - need advice

Suggest a landing at hour 3 to stretch legs and stay alert. Take a nap. Eat food. See what the area has to offer that you would have otherwise missed by flying over. Pick some place interesting. Stop and smell the roses. Also, weather across all 6 hours of flight might be different. Allow...

    Ipad on Cessna 182

A few angles. The connector clamshell is the about 2” long. I ordered a few lengths to experiment with and returned what didn’t use. Also included how I mount my Mini. I used to use the backside for my phone on the yoke before I got the iPads. Then switched it over to the left. Hope this helps.

172N EPs: Master vs Radio vs Avionics power switch

Nothing wrong with that. It’ll keep you surviving as long as it doesn’t paralyze or impact your sensible actions. Complacency is worse, cuz you can almost never cure it once you’re well along in your experiences, and only sometimes temporarily fixed by an “oh crap” moment.

    182 Vent Plugs?

Duct tape tends to do so. WD40 or GooGone/GoofOff takes care of that. I haven’t done the tape on the holes, but had tape residue from keeping the wires from prop balancing in-place.

What plane would you buy in my situation?

I’d agree with the above. I bought my first plane when I was old and the bank account was decent. My kids were teenagers then. It’s taken me some years to buy most of the upgrades I wanted - GPS Nav Com, ADSB, engine monitor, and I did most of that labor with oversight. I have a few more to...

    Ipad on Cessna 182

Yes. You’ll need to order a couple of parts. I have mine clamped to the tube, right up against the back of the control wheel (yoke) so I have full nose down travel. That clamp has a ball that a clamshell extension attaches to. The clamshell then attaches to the back of the iPad mount. My...

What plane would you buy in my situation?

Buy your last plane first. You can still get 4 people and almost full fuel in most 182s of that era.

Good eye. I think this whole thing is AI. I call BS. But if it’s real, I’ll take some Spotted Cow too please.

Back firing on power to idle. Lycoming 540 Edition

Well, something changed if it only started in the last few months. If it wasn’t pilot technique, then it’s a mechanical deviation that should be assessed “to make sure it’s nothing”.
