    [NA] Newspapers

I was in newspapers from '74 - '02. Got out when we bought our first hotel in Iowa. My first newspaper had 220 employees when I started there. The last time I checked, back in '16, they were down to 39. And that tells you everything you need to know about newspapers. It's funny, I was the...

    My Final Oshkosh

Since this thread was from OSH '17, I wonder if the OP has reconsidered?

Whats the magic spell to get a room at OSH Hilton?

We stayed at the Hilton mid-winter once, many years ago. The place was totally empty, and they admitted that they lost money most of the year, but Oshkosh made up for it. So just for fun, we asked about staying during OSH. It was a SEVEN night minimum, PREPAID, no-refunds for any reason...

    Jim's Forum Time

What the...? How are you supposed to tell us what's the best stuff at the show if your forum is at the start of the show??

Hurricane Harvey Update from Port Aransas

Wow! I remember that. Shoot, we were at the very start of this crazy project. Yeah, you wouldn't recognize the place now. Everything is different, and better, than it was when we were the Harbor Inn!

Hurricane Harvey Update from Port Aransas

Thanks! We are having an almost unbelievable year so far, obliterating sales records that go back 15 years, now. We have never been busier! :) Sent from my SM-T700 using Tapatalk

Hurricane Harvey Update from Port Aransas

If you land in Port A (which now has fuel and an AWOS again), you will have access to our courtesy car. If you come after Labor Day (better rates, no school kids, a bit cooler) you will probably be able to use it for the duration of your stay. Sadly, the car often sits unused for weeks at a...

Your Invitation to the 16th Annual HOPS Party in the North 40

We have a generator that runs in the morning for coffee, the evening for cell charging and microwave popcorn. :) In sure we can find an empty outlet for y'all.

Sure! The Dildo Light (that we had affixed to the big flagpole as a beacon) died a couple of years ago, so we have been without lights on the pole. Maybe you can rig up a brighter beacon that will last the week?

Hurricane Harvey Update from Port Aransas

Great idea, but let's wait until after The Season. Say, next September-ish? The rates are cheaper and we have more time to play!

Hurricane Harvey Update from Port Aransas

It's been a long 9 months since the hurricane that changed our lives. Not coincidentally, I haven't been here much. Okay, I haven't been here at all. We are finally 100% rebuilt, so I thought I'd post an update on where we've been, what we've done, and where we are going. Our aviation...

Your Invitation to the 16th Annual HOPS Party in the North 40

Hurricane Harvey be damned -- this is your official invitation to our annual HOPS Party in the North 40 during Oshkosh Airventure. ("HOPS" stands for "Homebuilt, Owning, Piloting, and Student" -- the old rec.aviation Usenet groups that pre-date the modern internet.) Mary and I are long-term...

adding air oil seperator to Piper Archer ii

I put one on my Pathfinder back in 2003. (Cherokee 235) If it made much difference, it was hard to tell. We probably didn't have to clean the belly as often. Not sure that justified the cost, which, with installation, was not insignificant. The solution to your problem is to find a level...

Talk me out of building a Van's RV

I faced this dilemma back in 2014, after getting my first flight in an RV-8. Five nanoseconds later, I was looking for an already-built RV. lol I based this decision on three sorry facts: 1. Of three friends who purchased RV kits, all three ended up selling them partially built. 2. I don't...
