How much CO is too much?

It gets "synthesized" right away in the engine. It doesn't displace any cells but it binds to hemoglobin- it has 200 - 300x the affinity for hemoglobin compared to oxygen. It also interferes with various cellular processes. Actually, 100% oxygen is a treatment after removing the person from the...

How Long Does a Preflight Take on a Larger Jet?

What do they do on a fast turn-around, where they changed the crew? As a passenger, I've noticed some fast turns where the new crew seemed to show up at the gate as the previous flight's passengers were nearly deplaned.

Elon does not read this forum, apparently

It really depends on the situation. I understand your comment, and I've seen enough union BS to understand your point-of-view. OTOH, I'll note Boeing- it is interesting that >90% of the affected employees chose to strike. My opinion is that they probably should have given the new CEO a chance...

How much ethanol is too much

See this answer below. I had to do such a calculation for P-chem a long time ago when we were learning about Carnot cycles. "Efficiency" may not be the best word for cold weather. A given heat pump can only move a certain quantity of heat, just as a furnace needs to be properly sized for a...

Delta knocks tail off other plane on ground

They don't make CRJ900s like they used to. some years ago, an A380 merely spun one around. The tail remained attached. I'm a little surprised no one posted this one yet: https://www.channel4.com/news/airbus-crashes-into-another-jet-at-jfk-airport More like broken news. The airplanes were...

How much ethanol is too much

If you distill it yourself, it will still be 95% as that is an azeotropic mixture. Adding benzene makes a different mixture than can be distilled again to make 100% ethanol with traces of benzene.

California is a governor's signature away from banning 100LL in 2031

I'm pretty sure there is more than that- see the second link. You picked an indirect subsidy which can be argued by politicians, but have no good numbers behind either side. That's why I posted that link- people for and against subsidies will make bogus claims. I'm ok with listing the 3 billion...

California is a governor's signature away from banning 100LL in 2031

I suppose he is referring to those mentioned in this web site: https://www.eesi.org/papers/view/fact-sheet-proposals-to-reduce-fossil-fuel-subsidies-january-2024 The link above mentioned 3 billion in explicit subsidies, but it could be as high as 50 billion...

    Egregious FBO charges

This is where your link goes to: That's great, but many hotels weren't transparent with those fees. That's why there is a proposed rule. How about you show a screen shot from about 2 years ago showing that those fees were disclosed? Also, the items I quoted were from your reference, the one...

    Egregious FBO charges

Yes- the same link. All from the reference we both cited: "well into the purchasing transactions" includes billing at the end of a stay - note the next comment Just as I've experienced I've no doubt that you had good experiences. But some of us didn't- the comments reflect my experience as...

    Egregious FBO charges

Why? I already showed that you can click the check box to get the taxes and fees as your post indicated. This wasn't always the case until recently. As I stated, my comment was based on old information and doesn't hold now. What changed are recent laws in CA, and proposed legislation like this...

    Egregious FBO charges

Not always, and transparency is improving greatly. I agree that my comment is slightly dated. They are provided if you ask for the information. As I mentioned above, you need to check the box on the IHG hotel site- see attached image. Disclosure of these fees and taxes is recent due to proposed...
