FFS. I need a new hobby.

I have a brilliant new business idea. Why do people have to pay for tie down and hangar for an entire year when one's plane is spending half the time at the A&P? Introducing "My Broken Axx Expensive Plane is at the Mechanic Again While I'm also Paying for this Over Priced Empty Airport...

    Ipad on Cessna 182

I have a Gen1 I Pad Pro 9.7 inch. It’s just a tad too large. The new I Pad mini is almost as large as the old I Pad. Try cutting out some cardboard slices the same size as the new mini, new I Pad, etc. and see how it fits in your I82.

    Resurrect old A/C?

I just bought a 182 P in June. I would have paid more if it had AC, FWIW. More attractive than a P Ponk engine, etc.

    Resurrect old A/C?

As I dig into options for putting AC in my 182 P with 12 volt system I finding few choices. Can’t find anyone who makes an aftermarket engine driven compressor version, just electric. The nice installed looking option requires a 24 volt system and a lot of amps. I think I may have found a 12...

    ForeFlight - Minimum IOS required

Yeah - went ahead and just pre ordered the Mini 7. They have a trade in program though. My current IPad is worth $10! So probably just keep it around for some reason.

Right now my “is this the day it happens” is when it might come out of the shop and back into the air. :rolleyes1:

    Resurrect old A/C?

Heating a flammable gas on purpose through a compressor in a system that might leak? In an airplane?

I’m sorry you’re tired all the time. And that is a bad Dad Joke I’m sure you’re tired of. Back on topic - bad design aside, should not that strong of locktite used have kept that secure?

    Resurrect old A/C?

Ditto. Right now I’m spending unplanned sums of money to fix my great condition new to me plane for unplanned repairs. Next year I’ll break down and spend an unplanned sum of money for an unplanned AC project in the 182.

Can you even get the old style refrigerant / Freon that it was designed to use?

    outside storage

Our club planes have spent their entire 50 years outside. Suggest 1. As mentioned, get good sun shades. 2. Get good tie down straps. 3. As mentioned, always use the control lock and pito tube cover. 4. Have plane scrubbed and ceramic coated. It should be just fine. I wouldn’t delay getting...

That is hard core. I wonder if they missed that, or assembled it without it being clean ???

Back to thread topic. Is locktite not allowed? Orange should have kept that snug.

FFS. I need a new hobby.

I’d get the A&P not to open my own shop but just for a fun thing to do in retirement. Plus the benefit of being able to do more things on my aircraft myself. If I really get bored maybe work for a shop part time. Seems like there is an A&P shortage for GA, so I might have a shot at that.

FFS. I need a new hobby.

This is why I’m thinking about becoming an A&P now that I’m retired so I can do some of this work myself. Maybe on more critical items do it and pay a more experienced mechanic to review my work. BRW, my new to me airplane that I got in June is in the shop now getting 3 cylinders rebuilt...

    Hangar Monthly Rent

I hear you. I’m 10-15 min from KRYY. Two year wait list - for a tie down.

    Hangar Monthly Rent

Paulding has something the dozens of other airports don’t have. Tie down and now hangar availability. Yep - takes me 35 min to get there. 1st world problem IMHO.

And also need to add cost of a tug - powered hand tug, or used golf cart or lawn tractor?
