the "not worthy of it's own thread" thread

So....... did a couple of approaches with a buddy in our flight club acting as a SP. Approach, go missed, hold, fly approach and land. Grab a $200 burger, switch seats and act as SP to return the favor and fly back to home airport. Really nice morning / early afternoon of flying...

Cheapest way to build retract time

Apples to apples, a straight leg 182 will give you 130-135 kts. Is a 182RG vs 182 faster? Yea. Does it make that much difference in travel options? Eh….

Fun Fact 1 - I have my phone linked to the audio panel so I can call for clearance at untowered airports. Fun Fact 2 - I, being the humble and perfect example of an exemplary citizen, am subscribed to the Amber Alert system. It blares out a warning at the highest volume possible. Fun Fact 3 -...

Cheapest way to build retract time

Retracts - not a fan for my version / flavor of GA flying. Your mileage may vary. Our club has a 182 RG. 5 years ago spent $40k for used saddles. And now it's off line for 6 months, because the nose collapsed on landing. $100,000 or there abouts - mostly covered by now more expensive...

    Who can do Rigging?

Impressive - but that’s 5 1/2 hours flight time one way for me. Hoping to find an expert like that a bit closer.

    Who can do Rigging?

Flying true with pilot and passenger in right seat would be about it.

    Who can do Rigging?

If I wanted to get rigging checked and re rigged, would your standard A&P be able to do that, or does that require a special shop to get it dialed in? I’m finding I need nose down trim and left trim in cruise, and want it checked out.

    C182 Engine Question

When looking at a plane that is near TBO, factor in how long it will take to get a reman or to have a shop rebuild, and the availability of the shop to install. Also look at the cost, not just the price of the plane. A reman is about $70,000 installed BTW. So take ($70,000/2000 hours) X (...

I’m down 20 in the past 6 months. A slow slog, but now working to get from 200 to 190. Love to hear these stories - good shot of encouragement.

Congrats! Well done. I decided to stop reading after you said one pill a month and skipped the part about all your hard work. So…. Where can I get this pill so I can skip hard work? :)

    David Clark H10-13.4 ANR

I've owned a David Clark H 10, and I now own a LightSpeed (Zulu). The LightSpeed has so much better hearing protection and audio performance that it makes flying significantly more enjoyable. Try on a pair of LightSpeeds, Bose, or DC One X, see which one fits better, and then buy it.

    Planes and hurricanes

I’m in Fernando Beach this week. I went ahead and rented a hangar space at Fernando Municipal Airport tonight for when the wind comes in. Ironically, where I came from - KPUJ in ATL area - is having worse weather. Heck, they just closed the FBO through Friday.
