    $150000 of Avionics Stolen.

Reminds me of the late 90s early 2000s when car stereos had removable face plates you could take with you to help prevent theft.

Fences only stop honest people. Nothing a red handled "key" can't take care of.

Are FAA part 121 ground incidents on the rise?

More attention. Everyone carries a camera with them 24/7, things get posted to social media, network media trolls social media for dirt. I've been in the industry for almost two decades, and its always happened just no one found out.

Let's not forget the rolly things, boys

First hand account from a former co-worker. According to him there was much consternation from the pilot, as the passenger was not his wife.

Let's not forget the rolly things, boys

I know of an incident like that. An aircraft came in at an undisclosed airport and forgot the gear. Once it slide to a stop, the two occupants evacuated immediately...sans clothing. The fire guys had to keep them away from the aircraft "for their own safety".

Let's not forget the rolly things, boys

The question always is, did the pilot know he was going to have a gear up landing or not?

Sea plane landings - who governs the water ?

It really depends on who owns the lake. Some are owned by the US Corps of Engineers, state, county, city, or private. Each will have their own rules.

Thinking about moving and renting out current house

If you sell now you can avoid capital gains altogether. If you hold it and rent it for a few years, any future sale of the house will be subject to capital gains. Being a landlord does get old. I helped my parents with it when I was younger, and I've done it myself for the last 17 years. I...

Getting share price down for flying clubs

I can understand your point, but what happens if and when the club is dissolved and the assets are disposed of? Is it divided among the current members?

Sightseeing flights that start and end at the same airport are not considered a carrier.

Road Bump in Buying a Plane - No Place to Put It

Can't blame Boeing or United for that one, just straight up pilot error. He waited until he had less than 3,700 feet of wet pavement before trying to slow down. I've also seen Cessna Caravans barely stop on 5,500 feet of runway because they touched down over halfway down the runway. Must...

Too many tabs: Servo, anti-servo, control, balance, trim...

Have to add a scissor lift to my flight bag for preflight, right next to the flashlight and fuel sump tester.

Getting share price down for flying clubs

So Club 1 has dramatically undervalued their equity. That is why the two aren't comparable. That is like a company selling their stocks cheap, because "That is what they always were".

Too many tabs: Servo, anti-servo, control, balance, trim...

I've never understood how servo tabs were ever allowed to become a thing, like on the DC-9/MD-80 series. There is no mechanical linkage to move the elevator, and no way to do a proper control check on the ground. This has led to two MD-80s in the last decade having high speed aborts and...

Getting share price down for flying clubs

You may have answered your own question. The math doesn't math. 40 people times $3500 is only $140,000. How do they own $1,000,000 worth of aircraft and reserves? Obviously $3,500 is not buying you 1/40th share of the value of the Club, so someone else has that equity. If Club 1 had one...

Leasing time in aircraft to a non-pilot

I think there have been a few things in recent years bringing this to the forefront. 1. Prior to COVID, there were quite a few people that could afford charter, but chose not to indulge themselves and rather flew the airlines. During COVID, those people chose their health and sanity rather...

Road Bump in Buying a Plane - No Place to Put It

This one did on 3,700 of pavement. The part that blows my mind is that they succeeded without knowing what they were about to do. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/feds-probing-why-southwest-plane-landed-at-wrong-airport/

Road Bump in Buying a Plane - No Place to Put It

You are correct of course. Most public use airports are government owned. Everyone wants the government to run like a business...until it affects their rent. If the airport was private, they could and should operate like a business. But as a public entity, politics come into play. Airport...

Okay, so what would a low-cost airplane look like?

I used to know a guy that was an A&P/IA that did that for a side business. His main MX job was 7 on/7 off, so on his 7 off he would buy totaled planes from the insurance companies and rebuild them. He said that was his retirement gig.
