Plane loaded with drugs makes emergency landing on Southern California highway

Well, that’s a 235 we’ll probably never see again. Maybe in a Fed auction in a few years.

    A&P or avionics shop?

Interesting....Guess I was wrong thinking the avionics shop had to do the HSI because it has to be recertified for the avionics. Fantastic! I can bring the new sim cards to the shop on Friday! yay!

    A&P or avionics shop?

The A&P installed the G5 as the AI. The avionics shop installed the 2nd G5 as the HSI. Am I correct in thinking that the A&P can do the software upgrade on the G5-AI but the avionics shop must to the same to the G5-HSI?

    Flying with low/flat strut

I ran into the same problem, but in my case it didn't drop, it just went clunk. Nothing showed on the strut. So I called the shop (20 miles away) they said go ahead and fly it home (KCFO). Nope, I parked it, and trudged over to the closest of the 3 shops at KAPA. Fortunately, they have multiple...

    foreign student damages 10 planes

Isn't this a Federal crime or because the aircraft were parked, it's only local? I can't tell, what exactly was the damage? I kept hearing "you can't pull" or something similar. It's obvious he did damage to the parked aircraft. Did he bend the throttle and/or the mixture control?

    WSJ article about airplane camping

In Colorado, airports are not funded by State of Colorado taxpayers. Most of the FAA's budget is financed from the Airport & Airway Trust Fund, which receives its revenue from aviation excise taxes on airline tickets, cargo, and general aviation fuel. There's very little "tax payer" monies involved.

Allowing CFI to fly my plane

I let the two A&P/IA at the shop use the cherokee. They are named pilots AND they are not allowed to use it for instruction (just a precaution). The reason - they need to go pick up parts and often fetch another airplane to bring it back to the shop. I'm delighted that the airplane is getting...

In aircraft oxygen solutions for short flights and up to max. altitude of 10,000 feet?

I remember when I bought the cherokee in 2000, #1 was to install shoulder harnesses. #2 was an O2 tank, all within the first year of ownership. Why? The hangar is higher than 5000 ft.

California is a governor's signature away from banning 100LL in 2031

Unfortunately in Colorado the tax on avgas keeps the airports in operation. There is no state funding for airports, it’s all avgas tax. Any improvements are Federal funds and state avgas tax. Want AWOS on all the mountains? That’s avgas tax. Want runways repaired? Avgas tax.

    Select Comfort bed

Getting old sucks. My doctor wants me on a very firm (not quite the floor) mattress for my back (a bit of arthritis in the lower back). I've got one of those high-end air mattresses - the Select Comfort. I posted a note on the neighborhood board - free - so far no takers. Is this normal? It's...
