Vacation (or other) Rental property out of state

If they were highly profitable, Goldman Sachs would own all of them and the government would make it illegal. A number of neighbors and acquaintances own beach houses in the outer banks and SC. Also a few lake house owners around me. As this is something I thought about doing, I picked their...

    favorite double edge razor blades?

To my wifes great disappointment, I discovered this time and effort saving solution last year. No more bumps, no more cuts, a bunch of extra time. Trim the growth and shave around the edges once a week. As to the question that prompted the thread: I use Feather. Buy a big re-sale pack off...

Trains, plains and automobiles.... That trip plan lacks a funicular.

The older mountain bike thread but now a road bike review update

I do have a truck with a bike rack in the bed, but I also drive an ungodly number of miles each year so I have a daily driver for the commute. Most of my biking is after work, so the bike has to travel on the daily driver.

The older mountain bike thread but now a road bike review update

This thread cost me money. Some jackoff ran over my road bike while it was mounted on a hitch carrier. Can't get the bike in the configuration I had. This thread reminded me to order a frameset to recreate the destroyed bike.

Baggage Handler Killed in Montgomery (Jet Engine)

There are 10 million annual scheduled airline flights. This particular accident doesn't happen every year. So if we wanted to look at a system that avoids this from happening with a 50 millon to 1 chance, whatever we have right now would be the system you want to implement.

Best GA Airport Option for Brooklyn

We have friends in North Jersey and TEB was the most convenient option. I didn't find it cost prohibitive to stay there for a weekend. I don't know how many gallons of their overpriced fuel I had to buy, but it waived the parking fee. The airport itself was something like $15 for the landing fee.

Any skiers/snowboarders here? WTH happened to lift prices?

Last year, when bought before 9/30/22, the Epic pass was $850. The daily passes at the big resorts are $200-$260. So for better or worse, this year the pay ack on the Epic pass started after 3 days.

Any skiers/snowboarders here? WTH happened to lift prices?

To really burn baller money you have to combine the two. Take your plane to fly to the resort.

    Starting EMT training today

Consider yourself lucky. NREMT has a knack to write questions in a incomprehensible format. So you may know something but if you don't know it exactly the way NREMT wants you to know it, no luck. I would consider springing for the $180 for the exam. I know you are not doing this for career...

It includes cardiac events within 24hrs of being engaged in firefighting or rescue operations. So if you are 76 and you drive the tanker to a brush fire in the afternoon and the next morning you wake up dead, it's counted as a LODD. I understand why this was expanded , but there are plenty of...

    Starting EMT training today

Depends where you are. I am in rural WV with volunteer EMS ($0/hr + T-shirt). The hospital affiliated transport company that does all the BLS/ALS/CC transports pays substantially more than those numbers. A good number of our EMS members are either drivers, EMTs or paramedics with the company.

    Starting EMT training today

Depends on the type of EMS system, but folks are getting less and less willing to mess up their backs for those patients. In the two fire/EMS agencies I am involved in, a 2 person ambulance crew faced with a 300lb patient will typically call for a 'lift assist'. That's either a second ambulance...

    Starting EMT training today

Over christmas, the transport company contracted by our hospital showed '0 crews' available to handle discharges or transfers to other facilities. As you can't just take a 911 ambulance for an inter-hospital transfer, that meant the entire system got gummed up. Eventually, the transport company...

Best GA Airport Option for Brooklyn

My understanding is that NYC wanted to convert it into a GA airport, the NYS governor wanted to sell it off to his buddies for real estate development and Richard Nixon decided to turn it into a national park. As for its influence on JFK: They ran an entire naval air station and a Coast Guard...

Any skiers/snowboarders here? WTH happened to lift prices?

I like the slopeside condo as much as anyone, but that is a luxury and a choice. If skiing is the objective, a Hampton Inn in Salt Lake and early morning runs up the canyon will get you on the slopes at a lower cost. With the passes or tickets, I don't have much of a choice.

    Pickup Truck Thoughts

True. Apex probably in the early 2000s. Lots of Accords with historic license plates on the road.
