    Flying Magazine article

Could be. I dropped my subscription to Flying after they dipped their toe into global warming - and they weren't talking about more efficient aircraft engines.

    Water in Fuel

If the plane was not level when sumped it may not have drained the water properly during your preflight. After a heavy rainstorm at OSH one year I had to empty my tester twice to clear out the water, that was also a P28 - Arrow.

    PPL school near Austin Texas

You won't beat Pilot's Choice at GTU for price in the Austin area, but price should is only one ingredient in choosing flight instruction. They are an all low-wing shop (Tomahawks, PA28, etc). I got my instrument there - but have not been there in 5 years. Website looks up to date.

    Diamond Aircraft eDA40 All-Electric Aircraft

The original DA40 was always light on useful load, this one is probably worse

    Why electric planes are inevitable

Call me back when I can replace 600 pounds of avgas and Lycoming with 600 pounds of batteries/motor and still fly 170knots for 5 hours

    Raptor Aircraft

Minimum altitude for ballistic parachute deploy in a Cirrus is 400 feet. Raptor might never have calculated that or put it in his POH, assuming it was installed.

    Raptor Aircraft

The fact that the gear sheared off is pretty good indication that he should have just geared-up. I understand he was cruising pretty low, probably not much time to debate the physics.

Picking up the new-to-me Arrow tonight.

I have fond memories of an Arrow 2 partnership. That is indeed a good useful load. You didn't get too hosed on the insurance checkout - I was 10hrs dual plus 15 solo due to no retract time (2007). They do that because most gear up statistics - for that airplane - happen in the first 25hrso_O
