Agreed, in my brain the cons outweigh the pros with wheel pants.

lol, Maybe its the camera perspective. The wheels that came stock on this plane were 6x6 and that is what is installed. Debating if we want to eventually add wheel pants. The sellers mom has a colt with wheel pants and it looks real nice. Although I like the simplicity of preflight without...

Not here, I've been here a while. New member to the owning an airplane club! After about 2 years of searching and looking at everything from Musketeers, 172s, various experimental aircraft and a few others I stumbled upon a beautiful Piper Colt. It was restored about 20 years ago and according...

    Is adding vor worth it?

LOL, I actually think this is the classic look for this planes panel. Its a Piper Colt and the owners manual even shows the instruments in the same locations. Although, I agree, rearranging them would make it easier to look at.

    Is adding vor worth it?

It is completely possible that a nav and vor indicator were removed in the past and I'm not opposed to the look of a vor indicator in the panel. What I am opposed to at this moment would be a giant digital panel in place of the radio stack. Call me old school if you want but I equate it to...

    Is adding vor worth it?

The initial plan is to use an Ipad and a stratux just like I do in rentals. BUt I wouldn't mind a slightly updated panel in the future just in case I put myself in a situation where I need more than an AI and DG.

    Is adding vor worth it?

Hey, I still pick up marker beacons in my area while I'm flying. Not that I do anything with it, just that I've flown over them before and got the beacon to go off completely by accident I might add as I was flying VFR.

    Is adding vor worth it?

Dang, ADF, I didn't say I wanted to be in the Howard Hughes days of flight. Just that I don't want to ruin a classic early 60s plane with a bunch of fancy glass.

    Is adding vor worth it?

Here is the current panel. If the prebuy inspection and title search go well the initial plan is to fly it and enjoy it using my ipad and a stratux for a while. It already has ads-b out installed. Future desires may include setting it up for ifr training, but again, don't want to go full...

    Is adding vor worth it?

Updated the thread with a follwup in post 63. https://www.pilotsofamerica.com/community/threads/is-adding-vor-worth-it.142456/post-3541441 With everyone switching navigation to gps centric stuff I’m curious if adding old school vor ability is worth it. We’re looking at a plane that currently...

    Another lost wheel

I'm only a lowly Private pilot, but my flight instructor a few years ago told me the school I was at removed all the wheelpants as they hindered the ability for a good preflight. He said it wasn't impossible, but that most students and new pilots wouldn't take the time to thoroughly inspect the...

    Another lost wheel

With the amount of info he was providing to her I'd almost say yes. In reality, I think it was great that he was there and got on the radio to help calm her down if nothing else.

    Ragwing for sale near me

Currently tied down but with a full cover over the plane. I didn't get a chance to pull any inspection covers to look for light today. But noticed a few places with cracked paint, and a couple random spots "repaired" with packing tape. He said some of it was used to help keep the inspection...

    Ragwing for sale near me

Just looked at a decent looking airplane somewhat local to me. Now I have questions. It was covered roughly 25 years ago in Polyfiber, the covering is showing its age but looks like it could still be good to my untrained eyes. Does anyone know an average time that polyfiber lasts? I've read...

    advice for handling A&P shop

can you pull the wings and transport it closer to you or to a shop that is known to do work on this type of plane?

    Another lost wheel

That was a different incident where a Piper (I believe) lost a main. This one was a few days ago in California with a Diamond that lost the nose wheel.

    Is this bad?

Right! My thoughts exactly. I don't see many taildragger high wing planes flown by Delta or American so a low wing trike gear must be correct. However, a nice low wing taildragger would be cool to own. :)

    Is this bad?

Not a Warrior, but not far from it. Kinda sad to see planes in this condition in my opinion. The current owner has only had the plane about half a year but this level of neglect didn't come from them alone.
