If a control cable were to snap in flight...

I had a similar issue happen to me in a C-182. The trim is a stabilator. Shortly after takeoff with a load of jumpers, the ball bearing that holds the trim in position popped loose, never to be seen again. This allowed the trim to float freely. Fortunately, the plane kept climbing just fine, and...

    RIP, Herb Kelleher...

My neighbor retired from Southwest a couple years ago. He has a couple of interesting stories about him. Apparently he took the effort to meet everyone of his employees and quite often knew them by name.

    Hangar Home Insurance

Interesting. Is the hangar attached?? I recently switched to USAA (from Nationwide) and they really didn't blink an eyelash at it. I described it as a garage on steroids.

    Aircraft security

I bet most of those places will have folks that are willing to watch your plane for a small sum. If there's a flying club in those areas, you may want to reach out to them and see what they recommend. Big international airports shouldn't be a problem, or anything with an operating control...

    Katamarino's Africa Flight

This statue is really imposing when you're landing at Dakar the first time. If you want an idea of the size, check out the white dots. Those are people that have crawled up the side of it.

Commercial Pilot training at GATTS (Manhattan, KS)

Talking to the local folks at your airport probably IS the first step. Get your commercial from the local FBO. No reason to go traveling for it. For the most part, it's just regulations and a few maneuvers that are not difficult. While you're practicing for the checkride, start networking to...

Commercial Pilot training at GATTS (Manhattan, KS)

That place looks an awful lot like the place I did my Caravan training. It was called Turbine Training Center back in 2012, but also located in Manhattan, KS. They were okay for getting a box checked for the company's insurance, but not necessarily high on my list of recommended places.
