Something to keep in mind. The OP had a discontinuance on his check ride. IIRC, doesn't he have to continue with the same DPE?? I'm sure there's an exception or a way around it, but there needs to be a good reason I would imagine.

You pay the DPE to show up, not to pass you. If I was a DPE and you stiffed me, I'd blackball you in a heartbeat as well. I'm curious how many students you would want to stiff you for instruction? No mercy from me.

In our flight kit, the company provided a Stratus. We took it out because it was dead weight. It doesn't work where we do.

Might be interesting to go to a boneyard and trying the hammer while you're sitting in the plane. BTW... Thanks for the tip on keeping the Stratus in the glove compartment. I keep thinking it's going to slide off the glare shield.

I find I use my rower a lot less than the treadmill. Don't know why, but I get bored within minutes when using the rower, but I can zone out on the treadmill and go for miles.

I gotta go with Lance on this one. The difference in price will probably be simply the cost of the extra sim sessions. And like Lance says, CAE will negotiate. I've heard all sort of first hand stories of folks that paid for their own type ratings (independent contractors) that negotiated costs...
