    It shall be mine!

You don't. You also don't have to put it on all the time. Bingo. That is precisely how I see it, too. However, this has a number of advantages to me: 1) it is a lot cheaper to get than installing a full glass cockpit 1a) of course, I can get all the information displayed on my iPad...

    San Diego airport?

Going through the more detailed planning right now as it is the day before I head out. A couple things came up - first of all, Brown is a customs point, Montgomery is not. This makes me lean towards the latter, just to avoid having to deal with customs officials or some such. Am I wrong...

    It shall be mine!

Good comment, I have no idea, but for now am proceeding under the assumption that in my little 91 world, not so. It's not experimental equipment for the plane, per se - just like you don't need paperwork for ANC headphones. I promise to post more after I get these and start flying with them.

They come with a prescription lenses insert, and yes, that's the first thing I am going to do - order a set of lenses for the insert.

Well, I wear glasses already, so I'm used to something sticking behind my ear. My bigger issue is how well the Epson's would fit over my glasses, and whether the insert would hold my prescription (which is pretty high). As for the state of the device and software... I've been chatting with...

    It shall be mine!

Yeah, I don't get this either. It's not any more big brother than carrying my cellphone and 4G iPad with me on the plane, which I do every time.

    It shall be mine!

Yes, it will work on Google Glass too. They started that way, but decided that they wanted to proceed in the augmented reality direction, and because Google Glass is only to the top right, they chose the Epson, which are full glasses. I think you actually lose from not having it as a 360-HUD.

    It shall be mine!

During the beta phase - which they say is limited to 200 people, but I think they might allow to go over a bit - it's $1000 for the basic package, $2000 if you add the iLevil SW, or $2200 if you add the iLevil AW (so basically the iLevils are discounted $200 from their MSRP). The basic...

    It shall be mine!

Not sure I understand this comment. I think it's really awesome that I can have things like weather, traffic and airspaces right there in my field of vision. I would argue that it takes much of the guesswork out of flying, leaving me more relaxed and able to enjoy the scenery, not to mention...

    It shall be mine!

Anyone check out the Aero Glass? I signed up for the beta and ordered the avionics package yesterday - looks like I'm one of the first 200. This looks to this VFR pilot like one of the best bang-for-the-buck safety investments I can ever make. Anyone else signed up for the beta?

    KLGB GA?

Run to the terminal? would my passenger not be able to get to this FBO directly? I did just write to them based on the repeated recommendation. Well, that sounds fun :nono: Thankfully it will be around 9PM so hopefully there will be a lot less local traffic.

    KLGB GA?

That's what I figured, thank you for reaffirming. I don't think I've seen clearance delivery in class deltas yet (my home airport is one too), looks like LGB is a rare exception. A 285HP (p-ponk) C182. Probably at night with the marine layer I'd want the coastal route anyway, just so I can...

    KLGB GA?

Thank you. I'll call them. It's literally a land-pickup-go situation.

    KLGB GA?

Anyone familiar with long beach airport? I will be picking up a friend there mid next week, and am trying to find the information to give them about where in the airport they should go, since I assume it won't be the main terminal. Pickup is around 9 pm. Also, second question: when...

How many have no intent on IFR rating?

Yes, I've read some of those accident reports. And it's not that I don't trust myself, it's that I acknowledge my limitations. I know, for example, that I can get succumb to "get-there-itis" type pressure. I've gotten much better at it since getting my ticket, but it's something I know I can...

How many have no intent on IFR rating?

I've been going back-and-forth on this. I did start IFR training - have acquired some 15-20 hours half of which in actual, and got to the point where I could do most things reasonably well in terms of going through an IFR flight (from filing to landing at the other end). Then I stopped...

    San Diego VFR transitions

I just looked it all up on Google Earth... looks like that green thing on top is like an arrow pointing straight at it - great potential visual cue. And 3210'x75' is, like, uber-spacey considering I fly regularly into Harris Ranch for dinner ;)

    First solo XC tomorrow

As a side note, I hope you don't have a prop strike like I did on my first XC solo... stupid bird. And to show just how naive I was, the plane seemed fine so I just flew it back (almost 100nm) to my home airport and told my instructor. He just about chopped off my head for not landing...
