[NA] How to create a permanent archive?

A bunch of people recommend reasonable solutions, but most (all?) recommend a single solution. I think a better solution is multi-pronged. Don't rely on any one thing. Every time you get a new computer, tansfer the oral history to it and take five minutes to see if you think the format needs...

[rant] The really bad design thread

I'm gonna chime in every time someone makes that assertion. I LOVE my current gas cans. By far the best I've ever owned. Easiest to use I've ever owned. Spills are a thing of the past. I still have multiple five gallon cans with pre-legislation tops, but I now only use them to refill the new ones.

    Really?

Nah. His behavior was being justifiably criticized. It wasn't a comment or attack on him personally. It was simply being less subtle that his persistent behavior, for over ten years, of inserting politics into any gap he can find is getting old.

Woman Backs Into Propeller, Kansas, fatal, 10/27

I mostly share your skepticism, but I have to point out that the fact that "every single incident" involved something other than yelling "clear" can also be used as evidence that yelling "clear" is very effective and has totally eliminated that form of accident. Anyway, like I said, I share...

    Tankless water heaters

Got it. So not a problem with tankless, but with installation. If you mix your warm water near the tank heater the same problem would be there, right? And if I ran hot water from the tankless to the sink then I'd be fine?

    Tankless water heaters

Wait, what? Most people who have even heard of legionnaires disease go with tankless to lower risk. e.g. https://www.healthcarefacilitiestoday.com/posts/Preventing-Legionella-Bacteria-Proliferation-in-Water-Heaters--28836

I don't know which kettle you have, but the term is "induction". And, yes, they can be very fast!

That's fair. If you are curious, here's a paper on some of the other stuff.

    Semaglutide for weight loss

It's not clear that's the case with this one. In addition to weight loss this class of hormone may well benefit heart, liver, brain and kidneys. Time will tell, but early data suggests that the old rule "lifestyle is better than medication" may not be applicable this time around.

GRYDER WINS - $1.2M Defamation Case Reversed

The alleged defamation is when Dan said that Cook had an affair, lied about his health to the FAA and sold a defective airplane.

GRYDER WINS - $1.2M Defamation Case Reversed

The flip-side to that argument is that long threads like that show persistent interest and engagement, so why on earth are they being shut down except to protect him? I mean, jesus, we have a 17 year old thread that has absolutely nothing to do with aviation and has 455 pages of responses, but...

GRYDER WINS - $1.2M Defamation Case Reversed

I'm of the opinion that Dan is a scumbag ambulance chaser on the basis of his actions on youtube as well as the multiple issues working their way through the courts. I'm amused that there is one mod here that seems to like him and keeps shutting down Dan threads, but I suppose that's another...

    Food Caused Dizzyness?

Two things: 1) Don't be quick to blame MSG. 2) Don't be quick to blame Panda Express. The vast majority of food poisoning cases never point the finger in the right direction because almost everyone blames the last meal they ate. Food poisoning takes between an hour and a few days to kick in...

    outside storage

Hangars keep your plane looking better much longer, no question. But economically is another question. If you amortize the cost of new paint, for example, across the 10-20 years that it takes for the sun to do enough damage to need a paint job - you end up with a very small hangar budget to...
