Concerns about flying after friend killed in crash

I just finished my commercial and I'm a bit burned out. Haven't flown since the checkride (5 weeks or so). I do need to get back up and knock out some approaches to stay current. That should be enough motivation. That and trying to convince my buddy that we need to take his RV-7 to Telluride...

Concerns about flying after friend killed in crash

I understand many of us in the flying community have lost friends due to accidents and I'm curious how you all process that. I was recently made aware of a fantastic young man, whom I knew well and was the grandson of a good friend, was killed in a crash this past Saturday. On top of that, I...

    IR checkride -unpublished holds

As did I, and a 360° for spacing while on an arc. My antiperspirant was tested to the same level as my flying abilities. :)

    Which E6B to Buy

+1 for the ASA CX-3. I used it on both my instrument and commercial written tests and I found it a tremendous help. Much easier that the old mechanical E6-B I used on my private written.

    [rant]2017 Ford Fusion Battery[rant]

We've had a 2017 Fusion Platinum for about 2 years. One of the best and trouble free cars we've owned. Great in the snow. Roomy. Descent MPG. Sorry for your troubles. Now, if you'd like to discuss the BMW 335i X-Drive the Fusion replaced...

    Wanted: CFII for trip

I learned about the OSCAR pattern from Jason Miller (The Finer Points) and found it to be a tremendous exercise in building sound IFR fundamentals.

    Boats, Planes, and Taxes

I bought my 95 Prostar 190 5 years ago for $7500.00 and felt like I stole it. I've been offered over $12K for it as it has just over 250 hours. I've been an avid slalom skier for years and really enjoy my boat. However, as a dedicated ski tug, it leaves a little to be desired when wanting a...

    How long to get IFR?

I feel the same way at 44! About the learning, not the swooing and vaporing. :D

    IFR Rating Written Test Prep

I used Sheppardair for both instrument and commercial. Highly recommended.

    How long to get IFR?

It took me about 6 months, but that was flying one every week, often once every two weeks. And sometimes, the weather got in the way of a lesson...ironic, I know.

New Ford Bronco [WAS: OK, I know it'a a car, but]

With the population of younger drivers not too sure the the third pedal does, Ford could have a successful campaign marketing the manual transmission as a security feature!

    Partnerships

5 total in my partnership. Respectful communication is number one in my book. We have a pretty simple "no jerk" rule. If a partner wishes to sell his share, we have a pizza meeting with a couple of beers to determine if the new potential partner will fit. We explain how we operate and make...

New Ford Bronco debut July 9 ...

If I didn't need something with a strong V8/diesel to pull a couple of trailers, I'd probably have already visited the local Ford dealership and put my name on one. The original concept Ford showed us was really neat!
