Dumb student pilot question Rudder related

They'll go back to 'neutral' but I put this in quotes because there's some nuance to this. They'll generally, free of outside influence, return to align with the natural slip stream, like a flag lines up with the wind. If you are going straight and level they'll generally be "neutral" but go...

Tell me about being a CFI.

I almost fell in that trap... I started teaching as a way to fly more, share my passion, and meet people while keeping my full time tech job. Next thing I knew I was flying close to 100 hrs / mo. I've since dialed it back and only work with 2-3 people at a time and 30-50 hrs per month.. but man...

I can't make sense of this crash

I'm sure we've all seen this.. to go along with my post above; how many adventures over the last 10K+ flight hours did "beat up trainer at club X" plane have an adventure outside the green range..?

I can't make sense of this crash

But that's still below Vne (though over Va), and assuming you did not pullup with some huge force above 3 Gs that should be within the design parameters of the plane. Still.. I do wonder about fatigue life when I'm in these 50 year old planes and doing commercial maneuvers, accel stalls, etc.

Tell me about being a CFI.

So there's a lot more to it than just sitting in an airplane and flying. It requires a fair bit of hard work and dedication. More so than I originally anticipated but I've been enjoying it. And if you plan to actually teach consistent students from day one you will need to find consistent time...

    BUMMMFITCHH, pre-landing checklist questions

Just use the one the manufacturer outlines. I think some folks like to get pedantic with these things. An effective scan is also your friend!

Woman hit by landing airplane. Fatal

MYF had lawn mowing going on the other day, the airport was making a big fuss about it. Granted we're controlled and there were a number of vehicles 'guarding' the mower. This accident is wild.

What not to do with TKS...

We were taught to do it monthly and those of us flying the plane had a whiteboard in the hanger with the date of last wing wetting.

I can't make sense of this crash

why the dive though? Wouldn't they be trimmed, relatively? I almost think a last minute evasive action attempt is more likely

I can't make sense of this crash

"Probable Caue: An in-flight breakup as a result of the airplane exceeding the structural strength of the airplane during a rapid descent that the flight instructor was unable to recover from following a collision with a large bird." But why the rapid descent? They hit a bird, nose dove, and...

KTOA - Sling stall crash at Zamperini Field, CA

do the CFIs here teach this? Not until recently did I try this with another CFI on board and there's no way that a typical dirty club trainer 172 or PA-28 are making it back to the runway if you pull the power at 500'

Wasn't this the idea behind the Ercoupe? And an apparent advantage of most canard designs

What attributes do you think new MOSAIC compliant LSA aircraft should have to return General Aviation to 10,000 aircraft sales per year?

These are from just this year, only a handful of schools I linked below. If you go down the Google rabbit hole you'll find a lot more.. there are several announcements like this each year.. 15: https://avitrader.com/2023/03/31/epic-flight-academy-orders-15-new-cessna-skyhawk-172-aircraft/ 40...

    Commercial airline boarding

What class fair did you buy? If you purchase basic economy then those are the types of seats you'll have access to. I book main and as a card holder I get access to the preferred (not comfort+ or higher) seats at no charge.. I have no fancy status btw and I still only get zone one, which, to...

What attributes do you think new MOSAIC compliant LSA aircraft should have to return General Aviation to 10,000 aircraft sales per year?

The apples : oranges here are the 172 and PA-28. These aren't bought by private owners, it's schools. Individuals are not buying new 50 year old designs, they buy SR-22 as the graph shows, Otherwise the Bonanza would be on here, but it didn't even make the cut with how few were sold.

What attributes do you think new MOSAIC compliant LSA aircraft should have to return General Aviation to 10,000 aircraft sales per year?

I could be wrong but I thought Bell was being facetious with the $100 remark at the end..
