    In flight thrust reversing

We'd do it in C-141s with the #2 and #3, both at idle, and holding 130 knots while paratroopers went out both side doors. It would also do a 20k'/m controlled decent.

    Skyview vs. G3X

I'm still working on a decision, Dynon vs. Garmin. I am just about convinced I'll go the Dynon route (about $10-15k less for roughly the same features and I can do the install myself if I want to), so this dialog is timely and valuable.

Someone Just Had a Very Bad Day in D.C.

Good thing it's not that expensive

    Skyview vs. G3X

Agree. Dynon really needs to put the STC process in high gear. The integration with other Garmin products might be a double edged sword. Any future gee-wiz non-Garmin avionics (and many today) will probably be incompatible with the G3X. I just can't see how Garmin's Walled Garden strategy...

    Skyview vs. G3X

What will the GFC500 do that the Skyview autopilot won't do? Just curious, because I just completed helping a friend install the HDX system with three axis autopilot in his Bonanza 35B, and it holds altitude and heading perfectly, tracks the magenta line perfectly, does every kind of vertical...

Garmin 175 as a position source.

Such a shame the FAA couldn't just say that if a position source is certified with any OUT device, it is certified to use with all OUT devices. Then it would just be a matter of ensuring the GPS sentence complies with the standard. This would be simple, practical, and economical.

shop recommendation: Bendix D3000 dual mag 500hr inspection

I second these guys. They did quality work on my D3000. They prefer to have the spark plug leads left on and they'll check those too. By the way, don't overhaul, have them IRAN (inspect and repair as needed). That'll keep you from replacing serviceable parts. I've attached an invoice but it...

    Another T-38 down... :(

It's not just airplanes. Remember, the Empire State Building was built in a year, and the Freedom Tower took seven. Regulatory hurdles.

I thought Canadians are supposed to be nice.

Why? The high cost of flying..

Semantics. We both might be right. Practicality is certainly a factor when forming priorities. We are 500k GA pilots with 198k GA aircraft. There are many in the USA (18.6M millionaires) who can probably afford a new airplane, and probably at least that many who can afford a used, under $50k...

Why? The high cost of flying..

I don't agree. GA aircraft ownership has never been practical (at any price) for 99% of us, and a lower entry price won't change that.

installation wiring diagram Cessna ARC R-546A needed

You should be able to find what you need in one of these (right click and save, they are about 17 megs each): Avionics Service Parts Manual (69-73) Avionics Service Parts Manual (74-76)

    Prop stopping vertically

Not all of them. Two-Bladed Cardinals (IO360 or O360) stop at nine and three.

    Quote check

In addition to the labor charges, it looks like they are charging full retail plus some for the parts (example: CI 105 is $159 at Spruce, they want $208). Shipping of $180? What's that about? And as mentioned, charging extra for the pilot's guide is rich. Not sure what parts for $550, and...

    glareshield covering material?

JS, yep, a little more than a windshield change. New fiberglass, new antennas, lights, beacon, etc. All 8 windows replaced with LP Aero UV Gray tint, then a full strip and paint. I've been busy the last couple of months refurbishing the interior, and next month I hope to start with the...

    glareshield covering material?

I had mine recovered a few months ago when I got my windshield changed. I am very happy with the results. It is Superior Panel Technology’s Black Onyx leather-like vinyl, Part Number SPTVINYLONX910, available here. Comes with a burn cert too.

    Tinted Plexiglass

Just to followup... I went with LP Aero UV-SG Solar Gray all the way around and am happy with the results. It does appear transparent to look through and it seems to keep the cabin a little cooler. Haven't flown with it at night yet but I don't see that it will be a problem at all.
