Bob, what's the proper call sign for these guys now? Flight Service? Radio?

    Air-to-Air Me In My Office!

Jack, I enjoy your pictures. Thank you! Question for you. Do you take continuous motion video and then pull out the stills? Or are they all still shots? Some look like the timing would have to be perfect (aircraft passing over a shoreline, sun and shadows perfect, etc.), hence, the question.

    Prop Painting

Rattle Can is just a delivery method. My last plane had been painted in Sherwin Williams JetGlo. I brought a small panel to the previously mentioned automotive paint supply shop (that some with elitist attitudes ridiculed, above) and had them color match it, and build two rattle cans...

    Prop Painting

Not true. Anyone can legally paint a propeller, as long as they are under the supervision of an A&P, who will eventually sign the job off.

    IFD 540 vs 750 Xi

Big advantage with the Avidyne is that you can install it with IA supervision, even from scratch, and if it needs to be serviced, you can send it to Avidyne yourself, and get it back directly from them. If your Avidyne needs a firmware update, you can do it yourself at no cost, other than the...

    Prop Painting

Smooth as best you can the back side (the side you look at from the cockpit) of the blades. This will give you a better climb rate. Last time I did a prop, I left it on the plane and masked the plane off with cheap visqueen type material from Walmart (paint department). $4 worth is enough to...

High Wing Or Low Wing poll

Most of us would agree that we would prefer two doors over one, and that a roomy cabin is preferable to a cramped cabin, and that great visibility is better than looking at the top of a wing (and that looking up is important too), and that seeing the runway while turning base and final is a real...

    Flight following question

I use FF from time to time with "I want to fly around the city for a while and would appreciate advisories", or, I'll be doing some airwork between 4000' and 2500' feet in this area."

AOPA Hangar has morphed to AOPA Services

Got that email this morning too, even though my membership expired a couple of weeks ago. I suspect Hangar -> Services was to mitigate the complaints and member losses. Too little too late.

    Blue Collar Pilots

OP, you might want to define what you consider white and blue collar, to clarify and refocus the thread. Many dentists and doctors now consider themselves blue collar, and a second level manager in a welding company might consider herself as white collar.

Cessna 182RG, goods bads, what is the average annual cost.

I think the Lycoming engine is a big plus on the R182, and statistics show the D3000 isn't any more or less reliable than single mags, if maintained properly. And there is no problem finding parts, or shops that know how to service them.

    Anyone built a Stratux recently?

My Avare PFD screen utilizes the Stratux AHRS data. In the options area, you have to tell it to reverse ailerons.

    New 2020 G6 Cirrus

They're marketing to those wanting to be considered smart. It's non generational. The word "smart" is used six times in this well done video. Very nice plane though.

    "general question" somewhat aviation related

If => 200', I think it has to be lit at night. I've never seen any of these with lights, so < 200'.

    ADS-B IN Antenna

Nate, I didn't think I was being vague, but I'll be specific. I actually had everything I needed way up in the thread when I thanked everyone for their input. But here's what I plan to do: I'll install a Comant CI 105 Antenna: I will connect this to the Comant: I will connect a Dynon...

    ADS-B IN Antenna

Thanks Brit. I'll try it without, and if there is too much of a loss, I'll try this. By the way, from the spec sheets, I can't figure out how this device is powered. Do you know?

    ADS-B IN Antenna

I wish I didn't, but more and more, we're seeing closed, proprietary ADS-B IN systems that'll only feed its own manufacturing line. So for instance, if I want to have traffic and weather displayed on a G3X, I'd need a Garmin brand receiver. And if I wanted to have traffic and weather displayed...
