    L88 (New Cuyama) Airport Help

The first time I heard pilots talking about flying to L88, I thought it was a Japanese name, like Nukiyama.

    David Clark PTT repair?

You may be able to find a jack here: Search Results | Aircraft Spruce Edit: Looks like the link posted doesn't save the search field, but just search for "microphone jack" to get a page of all kinds of parts and equipment. One of the extension cables might provide the proper jack, or I...

    Prop Strike? Action?

FWIW, I think the required Lycoming inspection can be accomplished from the rear of the engine through the accessories case (re: the figures that Dan Thomas posted above), but does not require a complete teardown/crankcase split. (disclaimer: I'm not an A&P)

    Another SIC type question.

MauleSkinner has it right, no SIC type rating required for domestic (US) ops. Note that I'd guess insurance requirements for a Citation X SIC may be quite a bit more rigorous than 61.55.

    Too Hot for Comfort?

Either route could work, IMHO, but each with caveats. The coastal route could present marine fog issues, and then as you mention, once in NorCal, it'll be hot. I-15 route crosses lots of desert-type country. You mentioned early morning departures, that, to me, would be absolutely mandatory...

Private Pilot Fear of Solo Flying

All good advice above, particularly the comments about intensive training burnout. Solo pattern work is a good starting point. Then, if you have other flying "comrades" (not necessarily a CFI), ride along with them on a couple of trips to other airports, then take them along with you as PIC...

My plane out of service, looking for fun things to do

Aha, yes. While you were posting your reply, I was re-reading your previous post about your IFR troubles. So, a "fun-break" would be understandable, and I get that logistics are a challenge, but I guess I'd still recommend trying to finish up. Good luck with whatever you choose!

My plane out of service, looking for fun things to do

Did you mean that you haven't finished your instrument rating yet? If that's the case, and you're very close to being checkride ready, I'd suggest renting an IFR capable plane to finish now. If your plane is out for many months, by the time you get back to instrument training, you'll likely...

Bay Area to Greeley CO VFR planning help

True, but by Cheyenne, there's only 10-15 minutes left to Greeley.

Bay Area to Greeley CO VFR planning help

I'd agree with those suggesting the "follow I-80" route. Basically Reno-BAM-TCH-OCS-LAR. If you need an overnight stop, Wendover would be pretty easy, stay at one of the casinos, they have a free shuttle to the airport, or even walk with light bags.

    Theaters

Pre-covid, maybe twice a year, for a new blockbuster or such. I prefer later in the showing week, once the initial crowd has thinned, and no way am I standing in line around the block for tickets. And, they're way too loud, even if the story is a romantic comedy or something without...

Flying the Columbia River Gorge Tips/Suggestions

Looks like KMMV. McMinnville is (just) within your circle. You can land there, walk across the road to the Evergreen museum; plan a long day there, lots to see. As to actually flying the Gorge, it might not hurt to drive through first, looking at all the power lines that crisscross the river...

Bringing the New Plane Home to Washington State

Urgent: CFI wanted 04/24- 04/25 at KPRC (Prescott, AZ)

You could join American Bonanza Society, ABS, and search for neighborhood Bo- instructors. They have a very well-organized training program, using qualified instructors across the country. American Bonanza Society (I don't think you have to be a member to employ one of the instructors, but it's...
