    Jeep Peeps, spend my money

Another reason I went new. I just wanted a plain Jeep, which obviously puts me in a very small minority. My Jeep is soooo plain. How plain is it? We’ve only gotten three ducks in two years.

Which is why we went new. To get a $20k Wrangler, you have to go back quite a few years and it's likely to be high mile and somewhat ratted out. Edit: And if we ever do decide to sell, we figured we'd do ok on overall cost of ownership due to the high retained values.

    Jeep Peeps, spend my money

We were right at $32k out the door. Still a lot considering $32k will get a nicely optioned Accord or Camry, but this checks the boxes. She always wanted a Wrangler, I wanted a convertible, and we both wanted stick shift. Boom, done! The latest is now FCA is going to replace the clutch and...

    Jeep Peeps, spend my money

I bought ours new, and had to special order to get what I wanted. Dealers only stock high dollar unlimiteds (4-door) with automatic transmission, heated leather seats, automatic climate controls and other luxury nonsense. It’s a Jeep for crying out loud! I ordered four options - air...

    Jeep Peeps, spend my money

Have a dead bone stock JL Sport 2 door, about as basic (and close to original roots) as one can get. Just a Jeep. 3.6 Pentastar, 6sp manual transmission, soft top, no power anything. Has wind up windows, manual door locks, etc. Since it’s not a tarted up mall crawler wanna be, it came with...

As soon as I get up to taxi speed I brake to a stop to check braking action and to be sure the pedal feel is normal.

Thanks, good to hear! The first week my rental bike was a Colnago CRS, and there was something special about riding in Italy aboard an Italian bike. The BMC GranFondo (predecessor to the Road machine) I rode the second week was fine, but no special connection. Later in the week a lot of top...

What’s your normal radio reception range?

It seems for us 40mi is about the extent of range to pick up ATIS/AWOS. Are the weather ground transmitters the same power output as ground comm transmitters, or are they lower powered units?

Any pireps on the Wilier? We saw a lot of them on our Italy trip, especially in the Bassano region. An Italian bike is on my long range radar, and I really liked the apparent quality of the Wilier bikes we saw in the shops over there, and I like that it's not a Bianchi/Colnago/Pinarello that are...

Any further pireps on the Assioma power pedals? All of my riding buds have gone to power meters of some sort, so looking as well, and the Assiomas are at the top of my list. Thanks!

I landed the Mooney once in a direct 19G28 crosswind, took three attempts to stick the landing. Nope. Not doing that again.

    Turbos…I Want To Learn More

We were picking up the 201 from annual yesterday and the shop had both a 231 and 252 in there with the cowlings removed. While we waited for the paperwork to be completed, we walked back and forth to compare the engine installations. In additon to the automatic waste gate, the 252 has a better...
