    Preventive Maintenance Training

Nah. If you can’t figure out on your own if you need training to do the things allowed, you’re probably not the right type of person to be doing it.

Actually, it only matters what you think.

If you think you may need training, then you probably shouldn’t do it.

Governor signs ban on 100LL into law

That's right. It's the states right to limit what their citizens have access to, as long as it doesn't violate the constitution. But for every good example of "setting a deadline", I can provide a bad example of it that's far worse.

Owner Assisted Annuals are Now Outlawed unless Supervised 100%.

Nonsense. The ia must not be even given a sandwich for lunch during the inspection unless he supervises in its making. He must oversee the slaughter of the hog for the ham sandwich, and the reaping of the wheat to make the bread. He must also be inside the plane to swing the gear and also...

Well, technically, anything dark is camouflaged at night.

    Safety; rules vs freedoms

We'd have to agree on terms such as "commonly" before I could answer. But pilots are not following proper procedures on a regular basis. If they were, we wouldn't be seeing stall spins happening so regularly.

The moment the plane leaves the IA, anyone on the ramp while it's parked, or in the hangar can do anything to the plane they want and the IA has no control over that, yet the IA "put his name on that inspection". You seem to think that signature is some sort of magic spell.

    Safety; rules vs freedoms

I disagree. From what I see, most are already not meeting the minimum standards, and that's a far bigger problem IMO

As a heavy participant in assisting my ia and AP in working on my plane (I doubt there are many log entries that I didn’t assist on in at least some small way), this doesn’t concern me a bit. I fully agree that they should be present to inspect the plane personally.

    Quiet Birdmen

I got asked if I was interested in being a “QB” when I was at the formation clinic last weekend. It took a few seconds until I realized what he was talking about. He never said the full name out loud. Kinda like if I didn’t know about them then I didn’t need to. We were interrupted and I did not...

    If a plane were weightless...

I'm struggling to see how Bernoulli or Newton (in the frame of reference of lift of an aircraft) have any relevance to a lighter than air craft.

For context, here’s a vid I took awhile back. this accident makes me think particularly about close trail at 3:30 mark in the vid.

I’m no expert and I may be misrepresenting this, but it’s my understanding that the separation distance is specifically chosen to match the size and shape of the planes. Any further away and it’s too difficult to align, see the other aircraft, and see the relative distances to tell what’s going on.

It's procedure to turn off all but one transponder in a formation flight. I'm not sure how well the adsb tracking apps cope with that.

True. The Red Stars have very thorough, FAA approved procedures and they treat it very seriously. As I said, I just got back yesterday from spending 3 days at one of their clinics, so I can speak to that directly. I have not yet piloted in any formation flights because I'm not yet properly...
