tomorrow is not going to end well...

HAATS helps ;) That's the High-altitude Army Aviation Training Site in Eagle, CO. Went there about 15 years ago. Great environmental and power management course.

    Oil filter ??

Why only pay for one oil change, when you could pay for two?!

    Trig Avionics

I’ve got the TT31 installed and can’t complain. It does require a GPS source, and my 400W works fine for that. I would have preferred something along the lines of the Garmin GTX 345, but the local Garmin dealer was well into 2020 for availability when I was addressing this in early 2019.

    Helicopters and frost

Frost is a no-go. Control surfaces in particular (M/R blades, T/R blades, stabilator), but I would be leery of it anywhere on the airframe. Move it into a heated hangar, or wait for the sun to come out and take care of it.

    Any Flexjet pilots on POA?

I was looking into Flexjet, and was interested in connecting with any current Flexjet pilots to pick their brains. I'd like to know perspectives, experiences, QOL, and the point of view from the guys in the front seats. We can discuss here, or feel free to PM me. Thanks!

    3 strike rule

You did hit the nail on the head there Kevin. For those of us who have been flying for a while, we can sift through the "strikes" that are benign, and the "strikes" that can make the hair stand up on the back of your neck. As the saying goes: There's old pilots, and there's bold pilots; but...

    Airplane for a Tough Mission

Hey Kevin, if you're looking to off-load your 310, I've got dibs on your avionics suite. I'm sure I could harvest it and throw it in my 310 :p

    3 strike rule

I have executed the 3-strike rule in the past. Usually on a training flight; however, have done it on assigned missions as well. Usually circumstances outside of my or the crew's control, but I've never regretted the decision. I've also had to go to bat for any of my crews that may have...

    [NA] sam's club or Costco

Costco has the $4.99 chickens. Interesting background, those birds are such a draw for Costco, they took the whole supply-chain in-house for QC/PC purposes and cost control. Kirkland is legit also.

    I did a thing today

Thought about doing that, but like Ted, not sure if I have a real application for it. I've got 15 years flying this (in the front seat), but I don't think it counts ;): Congratulations Nsconductor!

Will the cg remain within limits after 30 gallons of fuel has been used in flight

Good initiative, poor execution. Get with your CFI, or any number of resources linked in your other threads.

    Aviation Goals for 2020

Well, got my ATP. Got the 121 job. Then they went out of business. And thanks to Rona, all the other 121 hiring came to a screeching halt. But I have still managed to fly almost 300 hours this year. Here’s to 2021 and bluer skies ahead! :)

Advice for new pilot flying into Colorado Springs

...and, check TFRs as there have been several flyovers at the Academy, with increased frequency, in an effort to keep up the morale of the cadets. The COVID restrictions they’re continuing to operate under now are tumultuous.

Advice for new pilot flying into Colorado Springs

Go to Cutter (FBO). No ramp fees, and their full-service fuel price is respectable. Don't hit Pike's Peak. And yes, Garden of the Gods is legit. Your ADSB will light up with all the traffic from Peterson AFB, Ft. Carson, but mainly the Air Force Academy (where they may actually be using...

First time in the clouds and I gave up

Or in a pinch, use a -12. But nowadays, I'd have trouble attaching that hood to my non-existent goggle mount on my non-existent -56 ;)
