    Airline Exit Rows

Think the hipsters only interest was in getting extra legroom he was too cheap to pay for. Man bun vs bad a$$ WW2 vet, I'll take the vet to stay cool, more important than mobility IMHO.

VFR in the mountains - Part II

What altitude were tops and bases? It was legal VFR once you were below the layer, so only constraint was to get below layer. First choice would be a legal (cloud separation) hole. Not finding that, I'd contact ATC and do one of two things. If I could see a hole that was big enough to stay...

VFR in the mountains - a cautionary tale, especially for us flatlanders

@Salty said all the airports were VFR, meaning bases >3,000 agl. He found a hole and dropped through it. No need for circling mins or class c or an IAP for that matter. Reading helps.

VFR in the mountains - a cautionary tale, especially for us flatlanders

So you claim @Salty doesn't know the weather, but a skew-t is greek to you. got it. High RH is dangerous? We'd never fly in FL during the summer. He used decent WX tools to make the flight and the forecast was off. Shared the experience with the group. Not sure the high horse is justified.

This is about the most pointless NOTAM I've seen

Not sure that was a put down of POA, but rather the NOTAM system itself. A NOTAM for a 201 ft AGL tower, 10 miles from an airport, that doesn't have a working light is in the running for more pointless, and there's way more of them.

    Drop-in 100LL Replacement "Impossible"?

Well there's a million gallons in a tank in Louisiana produced by Vitol. The hold up is distribution. The why of that is less clear, but it appears that some of the majors and Swift are throwing up a ton of roadblocks. The majors have some leverage over the distributors and my guess would be...

Why didn't they fly the plane back to the runway?

Might want to check this on breaking aircraft windows.

91.126(b)(1) - Yes, Virginia, it is regulatory.

Think the terminology (Pilot Controlled) came from the reaction of non-pilots to an "uncontrolled" airport. For all practical purposes, it's also pilot controlled, in the sense that pilots are responsible for separation, following the FAR's etc. It doesn't mean that on pilot has control over...

    Altitudes: GPS vs Pressure

Simple way to think about it. It doesn't matter how high planes are, it matters they are all using the same altitude. Pressure altitude gives all planes in the same area a consistent metric for their altitude relative to each other. GPS is not that consistent and has more chance of variation...

What causes engine roughness when you lean too much?

OP never talked oil temp. I was merely responding to the more fuel=cooler. (CHT and EGT), same is true leaner. Not sure how that's different. Agree that leaning in climb if things get hot isn't a great idea. But also looking at CHT, not oil temp.

Until you get lean of peak, then less fuel=cooler temps. This thread will now reach 30 pages :)

    UPS rant

That wouldn't work for me. I have no idea where my SS card is and haven't for likely 30 years. SS Card is another anachronism in the prove identity world. Not ranking on your process, more on the what constitutes proof of who you are. I can board a plane base on a retinal scan, but need a...

    Drop-in 100LL Replacement "Impossible"?

That was Swift 94UL that was tested at UND. The "test" was not well run from a scientific perspective. No control group, no baseline data. It was suspended when there was some valve recision. It was not 100UL and I'm pretty sure GAMI demonstrated the valve issue UND had would not have happened...

I'm running 14.5 on a MBP M2. Been working fine for me. I did have an issue a few months ago that was resolved by uninstalling and reinstalling GADM. Have had no issues since then.
