Upcoming AD for many more PA-28 and PA-36 wing spars. 100 anomalies and 6 cracked wings found

I hope that’s the case. I am missing some logs, but can substantiate that my plane was never used for instruction or commercial and its total hours are under 5,000.

    Planes and hurricanes

One thing to consider is the ability to get out of the area and get a place to sleep. If there's a real threatening Hurricane coming, flying gets you off the road and out of traffic. One less car clogging the highway and way more options to find a bed. FL has two main N/S highways, 95 and 75...

Upcoming AD for many more PA-28 and PA-36 wing spars. 100 anomalies and 6 cracked wings found

I'd love to know how many of those cracks were caused by removing wing spar bolts for inspection. When this all started with the ERAU crash there was a panic to do the inspections. Many stories of mechs using hammer and drifts to drive out the bolts vs properly unloading the spar. If this was as...

    Planes and hurricanes

My policy covers 50% of direct costs (fuel, lodging, food) up to $1000 to leave in advance of a Hurricane. There are specific definitions of when you can leave. Think it needs to be a warning, not a watch and a Hurricane vs a Tropical Storm. I've never used it, rode out one on tiedowns and have...

How much CO is too much?

The Sesnorcon will tell you when it's out of date. I forget the exact annunciation, but mine went past date and I sent back to be recalibrated. Think they are pretty accurate. You've got CO, not an indicator issue.

Garmin database updates - user frustrations

It's about both versions in the link to the FAQ's. It does seem there is a recent change that affected Windows and not Mac. About a year ago, the issues were all Mac related. My Mac has worked fine for the last 6 months at least. Having said that, I don't load approach plates, I use GP on my...

Little Star V Thrust Tug - Dewalt drill powered

Same as @flyingron. 2 for almost everything, use 1 if batteries are weak and need to get over a hangar track.

Little Star V Thrust Tug - Dewalt drill powered

I don't have the battery part number handy, but they are just small 12v batteries for smaller devices like a mobility scooter. The speed control was the magic to make it work. There are three "handy" things you need to do to make it work. 1. Have a platform to hold the batteries. I used some...

    Egregious FBO charges

Definitely not discrimination by an legal definition. Not particularly "fair" though as you point out. While it's a big $$ amount, I don't think the FAA, AOPA or others will have a lot of luck in changing it.

Coax antenna to Onkyo receiver with HDMI

Here's the relevant page from the manual. You have two options. There's a 2-way HDMI you can connect. If another device is using it, switch to one of the other 4. Or there's an optical out.

Do you have the brand/model # for your TV?

Coax antenna to Onkyo receiver with HDMI

I'd look at two things. 1. Does the TV have a digital out fiberoptic port and same for receiver? Connect the two with a fiberoptic cable and select that input 2. The TV should have an HDMI OUT, just connect that to HDMI in on the reciever

Little Star V Thrust Tug - Dewalt drill powered

I might have gone that way if the 998 was available when I started. I don't find it anymore difficult to handle though. The battery weight is fairly centered over the CG and I move it on the rear roller wheels unless I'm going over the hangar door rails. The twist grip handle seems better to me...

Little Star V Thrust Tug - Dewalt drill powered

So here it is. I got the tug from Craigs list from a pilot that had lost his medical. The unit was in great shape, but the batteries were tired. I replaced them, but ran into two problems. 1. I had to be diligent to charge the extra one and 2. I only got one "push" from each charge. My hangar...
