Hey old people, tell us what you can't do!

@FoundSoul Small world. I did a Megasquirt conversion of a 1980 911. Car ran so much better than the stock fuel injection/ignition system.

The older mountain bike thread but now a road bike review update

All that only really matters when accelerating or climbing. Aero wheels are the big win. I have a set of training wheels and racing wheels that are roughly the same weight. Only difference is profile. The race wheels are 55mm deep. I run about 1 - 2 mph faster at the same watts. Light is good...

The older mountain bike thread but now a road bike review update

Wheels are the best bang for the buck - no question. Good tires help as well. Helmet can help, but head position is critical to it working well. For TT/Triathlon, aero position on the bike is big. Being able to make power and hold your best position.

    Resurrect old A/C?

Are all the parts still installed? How was it disabled? I have an Archer that had AC, but all was removed except the blower motor. It still works and blows air into the cabin. My understanding is that many of the Piper systems were removed for weight savings and limited performance. I suspect a...

Upcoming AD for many more PA-28 and PA-36 wing spars. 100 anomalies and 6 cracked wings found

All that assumes there is an actual problem. The data presented so far and in particular the response from Piper, draws that into question.

    Hangar Monthly Rent

In ATL LZU seems to have hangars come up from time to time. Down here in FL, FIN is ~$350/mo about 100 on the waiting list.

Upcoming AD for many more PA-28 and PA-36 wing spars. 100 anomalies and 6 cracked wings found

I posted a comment. Gist of it was doing the inspections has a risk of damage as noted in the Docket, $85 is way too low for a labor rate and Piper's comment was very fact based and should be considered as part of the final rule making.

    Florida in Crosshairs Again…. Milton

Still windy and raining in Flagler (FIN). No damage I can see, but it's still dark. Power and Internet never lost.

Upcoming AD for many more PA-28 and PA-36 wing spars. 100 anomalies and 6 cracked wings found

Pretty aligned with what I have posted on this thread and others. The cure is potentially worse than the disease and the cure can cause the disease.

    Florida in Crosshairs Again…. Milton

Pretty sure windy winds are a model output vs actual measurement. Think radar and satellite are the only pictures of actual conditions. Exception to that being readings off of weather stations or buoys. I tried putting a flag in various parts of the storm and came up with much lower winds than...

    GNC255 Database updates

Thumb drive, don't think there are any size restrictions. I use a 16g. The file is tiny, so anything should work.

    Who can do Rigging?

Assume from your avatar, you have a Cessna? Any A&P can follow the service procedure, but this guy takes it to the next level. https://www.cessnarigging.com/

Anyone buy a plane in Georgia?

Depends on the county the plane is based in. There's a sales tax on the purchase and an annual ad-valorem. You can go to the county website and look it up.

Is there a website data base of airfields that have T hangars available?

Another way to think about might be where are T-Hangars impossible. South FL might be an example. My airport just built about 50 new hangars and the wait list is at about 100. It took me 2.5 years to get off the waitlist. These hangars rent for about $325. I'm at KFIN in NE FL. If you are doing...

    Swift 100R vs 100LL

It's both. There's a few octane boosters e.g. toluene, that cost more than TEL (tetra ethyl lead) in the quantities they are being purchased at. (for G100UL, no idea about Swift) There's a lot of potential cost savings in distributing an unleaded product in trucking and rail cars. The quantities...
