    ACS Standards Question

Definitely. This is the goal of my simulation. Cool looking to the right and left and looking up at trees. Edit: better photo of the approach.

In case you missed my other comment, no need.

    ACS Standards Question

Just to be sure we're on the same page, I'm not talking about targeting the 1000' marker for touchdown. It's turning off the runway at A2 which is closer to being able to come to a stop on the 1,000' marker (the turnoff is just past the end of the 1,000' marker).

    Instrument training…

Even with an old fashioned DH and separate CDI, you have reference heading vs the course. But yeah, braking out or removing the hood, that runway is not in it's usual straight ahead position :cryin:

    ACS Standards Question

Yes, it's psychological. But it can be a big difference. I fly out of a 6,000' runway only a short hop from BQ1 where the wonderful Pik n Pig restaurant is located. Despite having done the simulated short field landing on the 1,000' markers, a lot of pilots hesitate about going into BQ1's ~2550'...

    Instrument training…

I don't recall what equipment you fly but I'm sure it told you how much you were crabbing so, hopefully, it wasn't a complete surprise. Although seeing with with our eyes can definitely be an awakening!!!

Old Approach Plate - KCOS ILS 17L

I would still like a copy of the circa 2009± FAA plate, but this one definitely answers a question I had about the approach. Thank you! @luvflyin, don't worry about the 1979 plate. I won't need it. Most folks here know when I ask for something like this with no explanation it's usually for an...

Old Approach Plate - KCOS ILS 17L

Actually, it became 17L :D If you can scan it, it will definitely help me narrow things down.

Old Approach Plate - KCOS ILS 17L

Thanks, but not quite. This is Amendment 3, basically the same as the current one except for minor amendments. I think what I'm looking for is probably in the Amendment 2 series.

Old Approach Plate - KCOS ILS 17L

On the off-chance that someone has some old approach books, I’m looking for a copy of the COS ILS 17L as it existed circa 2009.

GNS430W and 530W - Failing to suspend when in a hold... how to fix the result

SUSP/UNSUSP automatic sequencing is a primary function of the key in a Garmin navigator. Maybe it’s main function. I’d guess it’s used for that far more than for changing the course to a waypoint (the OBS function, which, unless you also want to suspend, is better accomplished in a GNS with the...

    Clearance Delivery

Expanding just a little (that's what we do :D), let's start by saying that nothing other "cleared to land" and "cleared for takeoff" at an underlying Class C primary or Class D airport involves a "clearance" in a Class C area. I can think of three times I would call Clearance Delivery at Class...

    CFI Reinstatement Knowledge Tests???

Let's reformat the reg for easier reading and emphasize the applicable language. This is, of course , unnecessary since the CFIs affected all know how to read regulations :D 61.199 Reinstatement of flight instructor privileges. (a) Flight instructor privileges. The holder of a flight...

    CFI Reinstatement Knowledge Tests???

To me the regulation (not someone's interpretation of some article about it) says that, even if your CFI expired September 2024, can still reinstate in December. It does not say that if your CFI expired in 1998, you can reinstate in December.

    Annual Inspection Paperwork

Yes, I've seen a number of mechanics providing AD/recurring compliance lists like this one.

    CFI Reinstatement Knowledge Tests???

The new rule goes into effect December 1, not October, and the grace period for reinstatement three months from expiration, not five years.
