    iPad case/cover idea? (full size)

Mine is old enough that I don’t remember where I got it, and it seems to have no markings indicating who made it But I went with a white one in the hopes it might help the iPad stay cooler. Don’t know if it mattered. On sunny days, it still overheats constantly in the plane.

How much CO is too much?

CO sensors are a life-limited part, though I've no idea what the service life might be for the sensor you have. But kudos for being all over this, with testing and repairs. Too many people have no idea it's a problem until it's too late.

Delta knocks tail off other plane on ground

And, while less important than lives saved, backup cameras also prevent a good bit of property damage and insurance claims caused by inattentive backing. I see an example of this just got posted while I was typing.

    Let's talk turbines for SELs

I worked with a lab in France for a bunch of years. Like the rest of Europe, they do enjoy a great deal of vacation. What always amazed me was that they seemed to be off for a lot of religious holidays that fell on a Wednesday, which invariably meant a long weekend (Wed-Sun), because (they...

    D. B. Cooper: the Barnowsky scenario

I've got a friend who, until his retirement a year or two ago, had a very high clearance. He was in private industry, but doing government contract work. About all I ever learned of it was that it was focussed on how to keep bad people overseas from doing bad things with cell phones...

    Egregious FBO charges

Ironically, NJ is just fine with self-serve gas at airports. Crawl up on a wing dragging a hose full of leaded fuel? No problem!! But they'll argue all day that fueling a car is far too dangerous unless done by a trained professional. Even though the trained professional is some crackhead...

    Self serve fuel pump etiquette

There's a screen name I never needed to hear again. Is that waste of electrons still active somewhere in cyberspace? I may need to avoid that corner of the 'net.

How much ethanol is too much

Propyl alcohol generally implies it is 1-propanol, with the hydroxyl at the end of the three-carbon chain. Isopropyl alcohol is 2-propanol, with the hydroxyl on the middle carbon. Not that it is particularly relevant to the discussion at hand. :)

    Melatonin

I fall asleep naturally, within minutes of hitting the pillow. Quite consistently, so no complaints there. My problem is I wake up 6, 6 1/2 hours later, and can't get ever back to sleep. I'd like to hit 8 hours...I'd settle for a consistent 7, but I can't seem to get there.

GA friendly airports in Newark area

I was based at MMU for many years, until my recent move to Idaho. I liked it; controllers were great, did an amazing job of handling the mix of business and bugmasher aircraft. But I've no idea what the landing/parking fees might be. Two FBOs, Signature and Atlantic (who bought out the...

Delta knocks tail off other plane on ground

    Lets make Friday 'Joke Day'!

I worked at at one of the big biotech firms some years back, and was involved in a project to put in a new inventory system for all of the -80C and LN2 (-196C) freezers. The Crown Jewels of a biotech are the cell lines; thousands and thousands of irreplaceable cell lines. Ours were known to...

    Oh, those silly geographers.....

I dunno… that map notwithstanding, I don’t think anyone would consider Wyoming part of the Pacific Northwest. Even Montana is a stretch; it’s on the east side of the continental divide
