Best Laid plans oft go astray (wx planning)

I still call up FSS in those situations and they oftentimes can help. Two scenarios: 1. I was still on the ground thinking no way I can go as ceilings seemed very low. Upon calling, they confirmed ceilings low at departure but advised that I can fly about 10 miles opposite direction where...

    Burning Man

Try @Pilotsnowden 's intro thread: https://www.pilotsofamerica.com/community/threads/hi-and-hello-an-introduction.148510/ I think it could have the potential to compete.

2 inches bigger and I am having trouble making it fit

It’s strapped to my upper thigh. I don’t like anything on the yoke.

Wouldn't want to be anything but legal. Yeah, Texas it is. That's where I lived when I first was a legal alien in the U.S. with a student visa a long time ago, and that's where I want to go back to, at least initially. This song is on repeat for me at the moment lol:

    I'm coming "home"...

Nope, I'm actually not a "real" Canadian. Naturalized up north as well. Been an alien here as well up until about a year ago when Canada made the mistake of giving me citizenship lol.

    I'm coming "home"...

Would we be hangar neighbors? :eek2: Just kidding. That would be awesome. Just looked at the map, it's about an hour from the house we'll be renting. Thinking long term, unless we end up east of Dallas for our permanent home after the first six weeks, 52F could even be our permanent solution as...

    I'm coming "home"...

I am officially an "alien (is that still how the U.S. gov't calls us foreigners?) of extraordinary abilities or achievements". My visa was just approved and I'm moving to Dallas in October. Now I have a million things to do and thought of tapping into the local knowledge of any DFW folks here on...

[NA] Looking for an entrepreneur . . .

While it's not really what I primarily do as a business and management consultant, some of my consulting clients have patents for all sorts of things and they ask me to help them monetize them. Trying to sell the license is the faster, easier and safer way to do it vs. going to market with a...

1969 Cherokee 140B: Slow to climb

Makes sense. Never been good at physics and certainly not good at explaining it lol. End result is the same though, if DA is high, IAS is lower than TAS and therefore GS is higher than IAS if there is 0 wind.

1969 Cherokee 140B: Slow to climb

If your DA is high, TAS will be higher than your IAS and therefore your GS will be higher than your IAS. Your IAS measures how much air molecules go through your pitot tube. If the air is hot, it's less dense, hence you need to go faster to get the same amount of air molecules through your pitot...

1969 Cherokee 140B: Slow to climb

Hot and humid with high DA, your ground speed is indeed higher than your IAS.

Probably not for too long based on this comment:

1969 Cherokee 140B: Slow to climb

If everything looked and felt right, plus the fact that everything was as usual on the flight back, I would say it was some atmospheric condition that caused this e.g. DA higher than calculated, downdraft during climb out, etc. I don't think engines fix themselves too often. When I still had my...

[N/A] What's your blood type and how is your relationship with Mosquitos?

I always thought they like "sweet blood". I always got bitten like crazy. Since January, I reduced my sugar intake by like 90%, no sweets, no sugary drinks, etc. and this year, maybe 2 bites all summer so far. Not sure if there is any truth to it, but I like this theory and it's one more...

Step 1 in modernizing my panel

Which is super important and valuable in Canada since not many have ADS-B out over here yet as it won't be required for most GA flying until 2028.

Step 1 in modernizing my panel

I'm stupid (probably the excitement of the installation lol), I wasn't quoted the same for the 375 and the Lynx, I was quoted the same for the GTX335 and the Lynx lol. If I was quoted the same for the 375, I would have picked the 375. My quote is $5,800 for unit and installation combined.

Step 1 in modernizing my panel

I was quoted the exact same for both units by two different shops so I picked the shop that offered me the Lynx at the same price as the other shop offered me the GNX375. Only difference is, the GNX would have been a new unit while Lynx is a used, overhauled unit with a one year warranty. Edit...
