First Annual North Texas Winter Extravaganza - Cedar Mills (3T0)

I’d be in if towards the end of January. We’ll be in FL early in January but back in Dallas around the 15th. I probably wouldn’t fly in though. I treat my Comanche like an airliner, only paved surfaces at least 3,500 (ish) feet long lol. It’s a short drive up from Dallas though.

    Gaston’s 2024, who’s in? Sept. 27-29. 3M0 or KBPK.

It's great as a bonding exercise.

    Mooneys..M20

Wow, top speed on that trip was 1,200 mph. What type of gas are you using?

    Compression too high?

We always test them cold. I heard they usually tend to read a little higher when tested after flight. Since they’ve always been tested cold even with the previous owner, i keep it that way to establish trends and compare apples to apples.

    Compression too high?

No, i’m still in Canada, just not where i used to live. He could have done the annual. I’m moving to Texas next month.

    Compression too high?

No and i won’t until i have a more permanent status in the US, if that ever be the case. Right now, my status is only good for three years, with indefinite renewals, but still, not permanent. No, certainly not but i’m also moving away from where i live now in about two weeks. I also have a...

    Compression too high?

He just said it as a comment without a specific tone, just kind of a “that’s what it is, compressions should be around 75, period” type of thing. He doesn’t know my plane at all. Never saw it. Never worked on it. All he knows is the inside of the filter which he said has nothing concerning, just...

    Compression too high?

My mechanic and I just completed the second annual on my Piper Comanche. All seems good and happy which is always a huge relief. However, since I moved I flew in my mechanic from out of town (far out of town) and since he flew commercial, some of the more bulky tools, he couldn't bring. We...

    Flying with low/flat strut

Not sure what kind of Piper you have but when I owned the Cherokee this happened to me as well. Was a really odd feeling having one side of the plane suddenly sink while rolling off the runway. It didn't need a rebuild for me. The mechanic on the field fixed it. I was over 1,000 miles from home...

    Mooneys..M20

Absolutely test sit/fly one before committing to it. When I was in the market for a faster plane and ended up buying the Comanche, I had a nice offer on a Mooney M20C. My mechanic loves Mooneys and he had one in annual that was up for sale. I put my wife, dog and myself in and it was tight...

Thanks. I'll send them right back to you in January when you're covered in several feet of snow ;-)

Hey young people, tell us what you can do!

I literally have no idea what you’re talking about.

    Egregious FBO charges

It was KXWA and the FBO was Overland. Super nice people, one of my favorite FBOs I've been to so far.

Hey young people, tell us what you can do!

I must be one of the clowns you’re referring to lol. I help business owners (some in very traditional industries) automate a huge chunk of their operations and integrate AI in their work. Saves them a ton of money and most of all time, and many of them tell me that they’re able to go fishing or...

    Emerging from the woods

One of my former consulting clients whom I helped grow his business by a lot hired me to be his management consultant on location and help him expand operations beyond southeast Texas. The plane, for now I'll keep it registered in Canada as my work visa is of temporary nature and I'll be...

    Emerging from the woods

I'm probably the rare exception up here, but when I see the first sign of a snow flake, I panic, close all shutters, turn on the music real loud and don't go outside until either spring or until we go to Florida. I have the feeling this will happen much less frequent in Dallas. Long story short...

    Emerging from the woods

I wish I could make Gaston’s but i can’t enter with the work visa until October 1st. It would make little sense to fly down in visitor status only to return to Canada and then enter the US again with the right status.
