    Our move to Texas

Not as tough as them though. Went to the Fort Worth Stockyards and they gave a small presentation on how they drove cattle from south Texas to Kansas back in the day - those were some tough cowboys back then!

    Our move to Texas

It was over 100 degrees outside today. Spend almost all day outside and loved every second of it. That's the kinda heat I came down here for. Too bad we'll have to wait six months to get this kinda heat again but this winter, if I ever complain about how "cold" it is, I'll just pull up Toronto...

So no need to eat them if they taste just like chicken.

Oh, I forgot about scorpions. Last time I saw one was in my dorm room in Texas when i was in college. Scary little suckers.

I heard they bite chunks of flesh out of you when hungry!

Those I don’t mind. If they can’t eat me, I happily co-exist with them. I just don’t want to see any tarantulas, black widows or brown recluse spiders.

    Our move to Texas

No hurricanes in Dallas. I can deal with Tornadoes (we have them in Canada as well), electricity goes out all the time in Canada as well (snow, rain, little too much wind and power's out), so nothing new to me, health care in the U.S. is expensive but at least there is healthcare. In Canada, you...

    Our move to Texas

I heard. Two of the major Comanche ADs will be due next year (stab horn and gear) so hopefully they'll have time to knock them both out for me. I'm somewhat fluent in Texan already. I lived in Texas many moons ago although some of those are new to me. I've been saying "fixin' to" as long as I...

    Class Bravo Operations

Okay, so seems like when VFR in Bravo, I can deviate (after advising ATC) in order to remain clear of clouds without getting the dreaded "possible pilot deviation, here's a number to call for ya." I looked at the arrival paths and also looked at flightaware prior to the flight and it was busy...

    Haha, for sure!

    Class Bravo Operations

Now that I'm based inside a busy class Bravo airspace, I had a situation come up, wondering on how this would be handled. For context, I only recently got my plane ADS-B compliant so I'm new to flying in busy B airspace in the U.S. In Canada, I didn't need ADS-B so I flew through Toronto...

    Our move to Texas

I prefer this (97 and sunny) over the rainy mess and temps in the 50s already in Canada. Took off from TXK yesterday at around 85 degrees, fully loaded and still climbed at 1,000 ft./min. so seems like the Comanche doesn't mind either.

    Our move to Texas

Could have saved two hours by going direct to KDAY. My visa approval said they sent my info to Buffalo (which is the closest crossing from home) so I thought I had to activate my visa there. Once I was there, they told me I could have crossed anywhere. It says that because back in the old days...

    Our move to Texas

We arrived in Texas this morning and have yet another looooong x-country for the books behind us. This trip was 1,246 NM long, we were in the air for about 9 hours, stopped at 3 airports on the way (one was for customs, otherwise we could have done it with 2 stops), spent 2 nights on the way...
