    Air-to-Air Cessna Cardinal 177RG

Jack, your pictures always delight - don't stop sharing, please! --- Were those pics taken over Lake Travis? Man alive, it's low.

    Really small cruise ship?

We did exactly the same, only on an AMA Waterways vessel; I think the service is comparable to Viking and, in any event, the service and excursions were exemplary (they had excellent guides at each stop, and it seems as if my wife and I were almost always the only ones who wanted bike tours, so...

    Station air down Marlin TX

Heavy sigh. Another adventurous soul I’ll never get to meet.

    Wiring diagrams

Installation Manuals with detailed data exist for each of the referenced devices, but Garmin does not publish them for public consumption; they are available for Garmin dealers. With effort, many can be found through alternate means, but not always current.

[Na]Who is traveling internationally these days?

…except, not much left of Norwegian Airlines.

Comanche in Turbulence awful compared to everything I've flown.

Bryan - Don’t forget that, when you were flying the Grumman, you topped-out at a speed pretty much the same as your pattern speed for the PA24, and when you encounter the shearing wind currents that make up turbulence, you’re doing so ata much greater speed as well. It’s going to feel a lot...

    Wristwatches

I have an old, solid-gold case Schafhausen that my dad bought at an Army Exchange in Paris, 1950. Think he paid $69.99, on sale. Self-winder, needs overhaul.

As the price of gas at the pump skyrockets

Well, my daily driver is a Suburban. 16 MPG generally. On the other hand, my commute is about 1.5 miles. A tank of gas lasts two weeks or more.

    Retarding Ignition Timing

Man, I prefer a little higher than book. So shoot me! One useful thing to try - when you’re taking off and getting really hot, turn on your boost pump - you’ll get a couple extra GPH.

    Ksdl killing general aviation

You're correct. This is a doctrine often left unenforced by a disinterested FAA, something about which I am exquisitely informed.

    Ksdl killing general aviation

You could be close to correct, or very wrong. I don’t know enough about this airport to suggest which. But, it’s not an open and shut deal. And, airports are supposed to be self-supporting, not profit-maximizing.

    Ksdl killing general aviation

…a comment which would be irrefutable at a privately-owned airport. Less so at a grant rights field, heavily using federal grant money. They are supposed to support all facets of aviation, not just the ones with big money.

Touch Screen Avionics are frustrating. (Get off my Lawn!)

How about that. So, Garmin does the same thing, but doesn't give you anything extra for it.

    Boston to Austin

I'll have to drop by and check that out; my child bride and I have a home there, and fly down most weekends. That might merit a day or two extra! If so, hope to meet you.

A Pilot License will change you life

Simply outstanding, Eric. Your skill and passion show in equal measure. That, there, will surely create some new pilots, and we need 'em, too!

    It is cold

I was amazed, when I visited the grocery store, to see that the meat department was cleaned out (Except for lamb. No one wanted the lamb. But., I digress). The forecast was for, I kid you not, one and one-half days of possible freezing precip. Nuts. And, of course, by mid-day Friday, it was...

    Where to retire?

I guess things are different where Bryan lives. No idea where the “rebel flag” thing comes from, just not very common where I go. Now, most of what Bryan references is endemic to pretty much every large/growing city. There’s a reason I’m actively working to get out of the DFW MetroMess. It...

Writing your own Will without lawyer

Amusing. I’ve probated a few DIY wills. If the decedent thought they were saving money, we’ll, they were…up front. It’s the cost of remedying their errors post-death that they never see. But the family does.
