Just a follow up on this...
I had my A&P take off the servo. I brought it over to Precision Airmotive. It is just a couple hangars over. He took it into the back room and had it back to me in 20 minutes. No charge, (Thank you!). He said he took apart the mixture section, lapped and lubed it...
I was gifted a friends father in law's log book.
It has flights from NAS Pensacola in 1945. SNJ4, PBY-5-B a CNT (?) and a couple other planes are in it.
His other log books are still with the Lexington at the bottom of the Coral Sea :)
It is a cool piece of history.
Yes...:)
I'm not sure what you are saying exactly. But if coming in to an unknown airport it is sometimes difficult to orient myself to the runway. Can't see it, which way do I land? Where do I put myself for the 45 or downwind? etc.
The wet compass is a bit useless to me, so I use the...
Yes, that plane, E/AB Sportsman, But same thing pretty much. It seems to be a great motor. Easy starting and more power than is needed. (Is that possible?)
Good to hear yours doesn't require much effort to move, mine just can't be right. I will talk to Precision for sure. I just was...
Hi,
This is a fuel injection servo on an IO390. I have had the plane since September. The throttle has always seemed too stiff to me. Meaning, I have to push and pull on it with more effort than it seems I should. But, I don't know what is 'right'.
The mechanic and broker weren't sure if...
I did our wheel pants on our Zenith a while back. I used the 3M 1080. But the cool thing I also used was the vinyl cut tape. It has a little fiber in it. You put the tape on first, then the vinyl, then pull the fiber to cut the vinyl. It works well for complex shapes. I couldn't have put...
Hi,
I went to solo ownership so I am selling my 1/4 share in a Zenith CH650. I have been an owner about 4 years.
It was built by the Local EAA club about 6 years ago. The wings were built at OSH, as a Wings Giveaway program. The plane has been flown back to Oshkosh twice. 2 of the builders...
I saw a blue light flashing on my audio panel the other day, a couple miles from Arlington (AWO). I'm not IFR yet, so I had to go figure out what it was. :)
He is from Washington, so likely on purpose, at Copalis State (S16).
It was recently Notamed for a whale on the runway.
Joking Notam, but still, there was a whale on the beach. That is a bit worse then a bird strike.
The thought above about taking on a partner in your plane may be a good one. I just bought solo, but I have been in a 4 person partnership on a similar plane to yours for about 4 years now (Zenith CH650). One of our partners is in his 70's. He still loves to fly.
For the maintenance that...
Last month I watched a YouTube of a kid that bought a "small aluminum homebuilt" and flew it home on a long XC. It had few hours on it, VW derivative motor etc. It struck me when I was watching it how much he trusted in that untested machine. Almost like there was no consequence or concept of...
We build new Single Family Homes. It is a fixed price contract, but we have the above clause, more or less. We never had to use that clause and normally just sucked it up on price increases as the build started and progressed. But with the introduction of Covid to the world we had to use that...
I actually have had pickled okra, cooked that was pretty good.
My first life experience with okra was in Nigeria. Their idea of good was if it was still stuck to the bowl of soup AND the spoon when it got to your mouth. I did not like. They have different "cuisine" to say the least.
I'm...
