    Connecticut AME Suggestion

Thank you. I had a tiny kidney stone 10 years ago. I don't want this to become a huge deal otherwise I will just get my sport pilot cert. My wife won't fly with me anyway, I would just like to fly at night and get my IFR rating but not at the risk of not flying.

    Squawk Discrete?

Those are cool. I saw my first one in person at KHFD sitting on its nose. Looks like a gear collapse :)

    Squawk Discrete?

hehe, yeah I was looking for a stealth bomber or an area 51 spaceship to pass by me.

    Squawk Discrete?

Thank you for the explanation. I'm studiying using King Schools and I have't seen this. There is so much for this old dog to learn. Thanks again Velocity. BTW do you fly a Velocity?

    Squawk Discrete?

OK as I warned when I joined I'm a student pilot and not a flying god, so prepare for dumb questions. I heard ATC say "Squawk Discrete" to another airplane, what does that mean? (my stupid transponder only has 0-7 and 4 digits so no way I could put DISCRETE in the box) hehe I made a pilot joke...

    Arion lightning pilots

Great Pirep. Thank you. As far as gen it is based on serial number. I will try to find the link. Have you ever talked to Tony Gentile? He owns N2300X and is the editor of the flylightning.net newsletter. Super nice guy and generously spent a bunch of time teaching me about the Lightning...

    LSA in CT

Hi Jeremy. That is great news. I started my PPL in Simsbury and the 172 is about the same speed of the alpha trainer. Now that I'm working 100% from home Simsbury is no longer close for me. I'm thinking about starting up with Phil Smith in Sept. At 128 per hour block rate that is 40 per hpur...

    Arion lightning pilots

That would be great. I have a few questions if you have the time: What gen Jab do you have and any issues or quirks? Mk2 tail? How hard is the plane to land? I know it is slippery so what is your personal runway min lenght? Is it prone to porpoise? All trimmed in smooth air at altitude what are...

    Dumb student question

Thank you all for your collective wisdom. This explains why I can't find any Regs on it and John and Martha didn't say anything about it in their Videos.

    Dumb student question

This is a Can not a Should question: Assuming I have reception or a Sat phone, can I talk on my cell phone while PIC? A non-pilot asked me this and I had no idea. If you have the specific FAR/AIM section that would be great. Thank you in advanced.

    Mock x country planning question

Thank you. I must burn into my brain: If is written it is True. If you hear it is Magnetic. My airport has 3/21 as well. I'm learning at 4B9. I think ours was pretty lined up. again.... low time student., now low time, nonflying (stupid COVID) student. Trying to not lose what I learned.

    Mock x country planning question

During this downtime I'm just researching some destinations i would like to go to and noticed that bar harbor Maine has rw17/35 but in the airport notes it says magnetic is 33. When do they repaint and re-label the rw? I could just imagine myself looking at my compass and the rw markings when...

Engine fire in flight procedures - Skyhawk

Ok my CFI taught me to just point the nose down, no spiraling. Was that incorrect? Btw I'm a low time student pilot so maybe the spiral was the next lesson.

    A decorum question

I only have a few hours. I really like my current instructor but I'm not fond of the plane we fly, although it is growing on me... like a wart. I don't want to get into the Cessna/Piper debate. Pros of switching: They fly the type of plane I want to buy They are 15 minutes from my house at...

    A decorum question

I was taking flight lessons at an airport that was 30 miles from my house but 6 miles from my office. My job was flexible enough to allow me to take a 2.5 hour lunch and go flying. Since COVID we have moved to a remote model and I don't see us going back to a fully staffed central location for...

Ok so I spent about 500 on the sport pilot school at King Schools just to find out that I can indeed pass my 3rd class med inspite of a kidney stone 9 years ago. Anyway i called King Schools and they switched me over to the private pilot school free of charge. Love them guys! Martha a John you...
