Do you have averages for student hours at checkride for your school? I'm personally of the opinion that 50 hours is probably only reasonable for full-time students between 17-30.
The airplane is a key factor in the environment, though. I think there's still an argument for a simpler basic trainer for the first 10 hours. I've seen plenty of students trying to decipher everything in front of them for the first 10 hours and not learning the fundamentals of aircraft control...
In this case, an oil leak forced our hand - a second aircraft system issue meant that we didn't have any more time to troubleshoot the gear, and chose to shut down the engine to avoid it possibly seizing. We had enough fuel left to contemplate trying to get someone to pull the gear down at...
Our Thursday was "interesting."
The good news is, she's back on her feet, not too badly damaged from the initial look at her.

To quote someone I respect:
"I define masculinity as the glad assumption of sacrificial responsibility. And I think that's what covenant leadership is.
Covenant leadership requires masculine leadership.
'Don't blame me, he's too young.' or
'Don't blame me, he's too old...'

It's still the best thing to do for two parents to raise their kids 21st century or not. Been that way for all of time. Your kid, your responsibility. Kids are great, embrace it.
Maybe because they are light twins vs jets? There are enough interesting possibilities that I'm not so sure I want to teach in light twins - the other reason I've held off on the MEI, but in my mind as long as I'm personally disciplined enough to maintain the blue line and whatever other...
I think I felt ready at about 10.
Flew with a gal a bit up in Oklahoma while I was time-building to 50 hours and felt like I was ready to teach, but haven't sprung for the MEI yet for money reasons.
Oh, and real Texans don't root for OU... even if you're some other kind of Texan like our friends at A&M, or Baylor, or Tech, or... It's Texas vs Oklahoma, for crying out loud, and for this weekend, the 'Horns represent the state.
There's a wide variety of pilots. A pilot with only 15 hours of multi, but 6500 hours of relatively good quality total time isn't the same as a 250 hour pilot that's only flown 172s and a Dutchess.
