    Logging King Air Time

Unless you're a required crew member (you were not), it's not loggable towards any certificate or rating. You could log that time in your personal diary, however. Total time is total time as a pilot. Pilot time is defined in 61.1. Your presence in the right seat does not meet any of the...

    Logging King Air Time

What would you log the rest of the flight that you were not manipulating the controls as? Read the rest of 61.51.

    Out of my comfort zone

I think aerobatic training is great, but I also think to a certain degree it will prepare you to handle unusual attitudes in a non-aerobatic airplane in the same way that competitive soaring will prepare you for an engine-out in a Cherokee six...meaning it will help reinforce the conceptual...

182 Fuel Tank Capacity for Certain P Models - Today's Trivia

Whether it's 75 useable or 78 usable, for P models with long range bladder tanks, the stick calibration is the same. If I stick my tanks at 100% full, it's going to show 39.5 gallons in each tank. The stick doesn't show useable fuel, or at least mine doesn't.

182 Fuel Tank Capacity for Certain P Models - Today's Trivia

I have a 1975 182P with 75 gallons useable. I'm not sure what other models useable/unusable was, but I just plan by the book numbers. If I was going to have to run my tanks to nearly empty in an emergency, I'd probably start isolating my tanks towards the end to burn "unusable" fuel in one tank...

Traverse Air Multi-Engine Rating with Tom Brady

FWIW, I did my MEI add-on with Tom about 10 years ago, although I suspect not much has changed. There's accelerated training and then there's accelerated accelerated training. His program is the latter. You really need to front load a lot before showing up. Thankfully it hasn't been too long...

    Dan Gryder Lockheed Electra Crash

I saw a note on social media from Gryder's son that he sustained only minor injuries so I'll go ahead and start handing out popcorn.

Help me choose a plane for my mission (Hawaii)

Yep, with overweight permits and ferry tanks they'll make it.

    Name my dog

Kareem Fahmi on the old Red Board used to have a dog named Flaps. I always thought that was a cool dog name, particularly when you call out “Flaps Up!” Or “Flaps Down!”

Help me choose a plane for my mission (Hawaii)

I kinda like the Skymaster for this mission. The hangar size might be an issue though.

    Potomac Airfield VKX

I can’t speak to the new flight school that bought out GT aviation, but flying to 2W5 to do pattern work is not a huge deal; it’s 11nm away. Folks burn the equivalent Hobbs time waiting in queue for takeoff. In the DC area, Airport convenience is a big issue; if you have to travel across town to...

    DPE PPL price

I want to say I paid $250-300 for my private in 1994 in Virginia. I don't remember the exact amount, but I remember it was cash, and it it seemed like a lot of money to a broke college kid bankrolling his flight training with a relatively lucrative $7.50/hr part-time job.

Trent Palmer (YouTuber Bush Pilot Channel) Suspended By FAA

I wonder what would happen if one day I decided it would be funny to buzz my buddies house, so I did it, his neighbor ratted me out, but when the FAA called, I claimed I was planning to land on his drive way and the buzz job was an inspection pass? Oh, and I had my own YouTube channel with a...

This one is VERY hard to listen to...I'm guessing another "cognitive decline"...

Sounds like local control sent airport Ops (TEB99)out to him. I’m not sure why they’d insist on him copying a number while he’s already in the middle of an active runway. The controllers have a right to be frustrated with him, but professionalism would suggest putting on the kid gloves and...
